My take on the front vent

I believe the earlier spy shots of the red prototype spied while driving around the 'ring provide the clearest images of a production front vent.

Here are some images that I captured from youtube at the most revealing angles, and in the bottom is a snippit of the GT6 concept.

I think the front vent design for the M2 will be unique, not like the M4 nor M3's, but like the Vision GT6's. Maybe not as long, but similar style. As Scott26 said himself, the M2 will have it's own unique aero characteristics, and we already know this is definitely true for the front and rear bumpers - so I think the fender vent will follow this trend of uniqueness.

Take a look:

I still laugh at all the renders showing tiny front intakes. It's called camo for a reason!

Thanks as ever Adem1534 what do you thinks going on at the front of the rear wheel? The panel there still looks very ad hoc and bolted on like the M235i racing? Just further iterations of bodywork to come I guess.

Also not too sure how you think this front vent is different or unique to M2....I see this every day on the M4?

M4 image side on here.

Is it that the M4 vent angles back at the bottom and we feel the M2 will carry straight down like the GT? Would look great.

Yeah it's interesting seeing people's takes. Let it just run its course and we will see the car reviled hopefully soon. People are trying way to hard to decipher this camo so much..like you said its camo for a reason.

This car is going to look great. Hoping for a power bulge and CF roof... and S55.

Me too but I don't realistically think they'll add the cf roof for the price. However a powerdome would look great

Was going to post the same thing. Though I think it's hard to interpret this ENTIRELY from mule pictures, it's a pretty good bet the side vent will look like what is suggested in the OP given the design cues from the Vision GT and 1M.

Thanks OP!

In these pictures the front of the wheel arc seems that it shows a slight crease in the body work. I haven't seen this on other mules, but this could signify that the rear fenders will have a angular and bulked appearance… I'm calling it now: this car will amaze many and be very unique. There was another image that W/// posted in another thread that shows the top of the flare is angled downwards. This car will be super aggressive.

In regards to how the front vent will be different: the M4's is short and curved at both ends. I expect the M2 vent to be like the Vision GTs: longer and styled differently (slightly, but still different).

I don't see a chance of there being a side vent by the rear arch but I do believe that will appear on the CSL model. Cheers and… happy waiting! lol, the struggle continues.

I seriously appreciate all the effort put in by everyone, but I am so tired of the speculation, I know that it is all fun but can we please see some production panels please, maybe lose a little camo??

How many ways can BMW bend sheet metal? Want improvements, how about fixing the atrocious hood line??

As for all else, I hope that the engine, brakes, suspension, chassis stiffness, and weight are "acceptable."

+1

I'm going to feel sorry for those who get disappointed by BMW. My prediction is no CF roof, no power dome on the hood, and no additional fender vents that aren't currently on the M3/M4. I just hope the aggressive fender flares carry over from the 1M.

They are not going to make this car so desirable it cannibalizes M3/4 sales. Not saying it won't be amazing, just don't expect to get everything.
