Need some help on removing steering wheel trim

In the middle of a little steering wheel project.

Need some help on how to remove the aluminum trim on this part (i'm replacing with a carbon fiber piece).

Here are the pics...

Looks like it's some sort of metal tab with 4 hooks holding on to a metal stub.

Should I just push these through? I'm worried about bending the metal housing and I they won't properly hood the new replacement piece.

Thoughts?

Pretty easy to remove. Take a small screw driver and pry the metal tabs back on the clips. They should just loosen up. To reattach, flatten the tabs back down on the clips and press them back on.

Man I hear you.. I tried that first... the clips are so damn tight against the stub it's nearly impossible to get under-near them to flip them back.

I might get the dremmal out and try to grind the tips off.

I've got 2 of the 6 off using very sharp metal pick but I've practically destroyed the metal tabs, not sure I can reuse them those 2.

Might have to use an epoxy to reattach the carbon fiber part.

I Dont have pictures, but the procedure is

1) Remove the battery negative cable from the car (Due to removing airbag)
2) Put a screwdriver in the airbag unlocking hole at teh back of the steering wheel and unclip the airbag (Look this up as it can be tricky)
3) Unclip the airbag control wire and set airbag down with the BMW roundel facing up
4) Unscrew 1 trim holding screw at the bottom rear of steering wheel (behind the trim)
5) Unscrew the 2 screws holding the top of the trim in (behind where the airbag was.
