IND | RKP F8X M3/M4 Installation Walk-Through

Many of our clients have inquired about the installation for the F8X M3/M4 RKP carbon fiber front lip spoiler and although we always recommend professional installation, we wanted to provide the community with a general understanding of this process. This is not DIY as we recommend a qualified body shop technician install this front lip.

At first glance, many will notice the use of some gloss black accents and the general thickness of the piece. The RKP F8x M front lip is built with durability in mind, and is designed to withstand trackday use. Aerodynamic loads and impacts with the road surface were considered, giving us a lip that is reinforced in its center with a core material.

Below is a list of tools used during this process:
• 13mm socket or wrench
• 10mm socket or wrench
• 8mm socket or wrench
• 4mm hex
• Air saw and heavy duty shears (Dremel can also be used)
• Metal pick/hook
• 5/16th drill bit

Anyone who has taken a look under the F8X chassis can attest to the amount of plastic covers, relative to the previous generation. In order to begin the installation process, the first step is to clean up the underside of the bumper. The ensuing steps will be a good amount of preparation prior to the installation.

Regarding trimming that is seen in the video, please see below.

Similar to the BMW M performance front lip and splitter, the RKP lip requires trimming of the left and right side deflector lips. Our technician used a compressor driven air saw as well as heavy duty shears for a small partition.
Carefully mark the edge that must be trimmed, we use painter tape.
Now make the necessary incision on the left and right pieces.

Did u actually re-install the side deflectors?

Yes. The factory panels are reinstalled, including the left and right side deflector pieces

About how long would you say this would take? I have a shop quoting an outrageous amount to do it?

No, the m performance fits the splitters and offers a carbon lip with it, if that's what your wanting
