Aftermarket tune and exhaust?

Anyone here in OZ have done any of these?

I'm looking into getting a full exhaust with that I'll need a tune as well, but in Australia stuff like that for BMW aren't as popular as say VW/Audi, so can't seem to find many specialists (eg. dinan in USA).

Give Jim a call at BMW Sydney and he will put you in touch with a reputable tuner such as CPC.

Was looking at CPC... They stock armytrix exhaust, have emailed them anyway to see what options they have.

Which engine tune did you go with? McChip-DKR?

Transmission tune for auto or manual? What's the difference? worth it?

What do you think of the m performance exhaust? I'm looking into alot of different brands. CPC quoted me price for armytrix ($3825 + install or $5440 with DP + install), Milltek full system ($4125) and Supersprint full system ($6259)

Where did you source the m performance exhaust?

I went to SBM today and had a listen to the BMWPerf exhaust... I think I am sold! Quite loud on cold startup but not too loud at idle. A nice throaty note to it.

Just remember there is a diff version of the exhaust if you have the normal diffuser or the BMWPerf diffuser.

Went with the McChip DKR, however I believe a flash tune is now available. The MPerformance exhaust was sourced from Germany. Produces a throaty note which is not over bearing with the 8 speed auto. If you driving with the paddle shift the transmission tune is worth it otherwise don't bother

What's the difference with or without m performance diffuser? I'm not totally convinced with the m performance exhaust because it's only axel back...

I think there are 2 different versions (just tip length) to fit either the normal diffuser (shorter) or the M perf diffuser (longer) so you need to specify when ordering. SBM has stock btw.

I think the M perf exhaust is ok if you do not want the loud 'look at me' exhaust note... not for me those days are gone lol!

I got quoted Miltek for 2072 catback, but think I will go with Mperf.

Yea got quoted the same ($2295) the other day ($2750 with carbon tips) both for cars with mperformance diffuser which I don't have. I was actually enquiring about the eisemann exhaust (through the eisenmann website) and southernbm must be the dealer because they replied.

They also quoted me the dinan exhaust for 3295 (axel back only)

Eisenmann for $3250 (axel back) and $1995 (mid pipes) so that's a complete ripoff!!!

So still not sure which way to go... Still find it ridiculous they try to charge so much just for an axel back exhaust... I paid that much for a full exhaust with my gti and rs250

How much do you guys think it's acceptable for an exhaust/tuning company to charge to install a cat-back exhaust?

Was talking to the guys at CPC, great sales support and information, but they quoted me $528 for installation!! That's absolutely ridiculous!

Pretty expensive. I installed a cat back on my Cooper S and it was a pretty straight forward bolt on. Might be more if there is cutting/welding involved? Also there is an electronic valve control on the stock exhaust so maybe that needs work too?

Other companies are quoting around $300inc gst... I emailed CPC that, and he lowered the price to $395inc gst but they charge interstate freight for some reason ($120 down to $80), they're an authorised dealer, they should be bearing that cost in my opinion, none of the other distributors are charging interstate freight. It's like jbhifi passing on the cost of getting a TV to the store to their customers.

Got a few quotes from other distributors, so once I get all the quotes I can compare (exhuast + installation + gst) prices.

I think I'm going with the milltek turbo back... For the price it's a good deal.. $3k installed vs $2.7k for a m performance axel back it's a no brainer.

It also utilises the oe valvetronic system is also a plus for me
