An interesting comparison of the i8 & 911 released today.

Which would you rather have?

Without watching the 911.

It's a 911.

I8 - nice, could be fast, looks futuristic, but, when all's said and done (and don't shoot me) it's a bmw. They can make all the great cars in the world, m3 and m5 being really great, but a 911 is a 911 made by porsche.

I8 looks great, however would go the Porsche.

Now in 5 years time when the BMW i range is sorted (or by then K range).....

How about taking future value into consideration, i should think the i8 will hold it's value much better than the 911?

If was worried about residuals I wouldn't buy either

Probably get a economical cheap 335d and convince myself I could beat either (Resisted the urge to follow a 911 Carreras s down the local bypass today even though he was clearly up for some fun).

I just can't see the market for the i8, too dear, not special enough in my view

Possibly, but most folk with this cash to drop aren't overly worried about residuals. I'd say all BMW 'i' models are a great unknown right now in relation to battery replacement etc. i8 is cleverer car no doubt but 911 drives better, sounds better and in reality is cheaper and less than 1 yr lead time.

Whilst the exterior of the i8 is great if a little too overdone, the interior while quality isn't really like £110,000 car. It's got the standard gearshift and just all looks a bit ordinary. The doors are awesome but closed mostly

911 no contest but just my thoughts.
