M4 & 435d test drives today, oh and the rugby.

Good afternoon all,

Spent two hours at my local dealer today, with i must say a great sales guy, test driving the M4 Coupe and 435d with lots of goodies on.

Have to say, both are amazingly quick and beautiful cars.

M4 convertible...no, just no. Go get a TT you hairdresser... stay with the coupe for all you guys and gals looking as well.

Anyway, i am not going to give a full on run down of how they drive, i drive a 3lt 6 pot anyway, the 435d was smoother than the 30d, more refined, smoother in its power delivery and due to x drive more stable around the corners. Sport + made it even better. The ride height is absolutely fine as well.

M4 .... animal. pure animal. Fun. Refined. Sounds gorgeous. Looks even better. Can't use it for work. About £20k more...worth the money...? Yh, i would say so. If they make it x drive though, would be no point and i would revert to the 435d.

Conclusion? i don't have a clue what i am going to do, 435d or M4 or keep the 330d....i have a while to make a decision, but both are truly fantastic cars, and i would suggest you go and drive them yourself if you have the chance!

Oh and watch the rugby today...even if you don't normally, brilliant point chasing games, fun to watch

Andy

great cars just remember the M will certainly be fun for sure but could it be your everyday car for commuting, ferrying friends around, local holidays, parking it in tescos car park. etc etc etc.

if non of that is an issue go fir it

M4 is definitely an easy to live with DD car, no question. It's just stomaching the running costs to be considered.

Glad you enjoyed them all OP, no rush to change, get back in for some more test drives etc.

I will take up your suggestion and go drive one later this evening cleaned up the beast today and she's looking beautiful in the sun.

Collection my first M in winter wasn't the best idea but it's great now with the windows down as well as the sunroof, very nice.

I was thinking that if I get an M4 then I'd probably go convertible! The Alps in the Z4 even going slowly was awesome with the roof down, and I enjoyed the fresh air more often than I ever used the last 2/10ths in the road where it might lose out in dynamics to the coupe.

The turbo engine's torque copes with the extra weight a lot better than the E93 engine did.

Been lurking round the dealers too, hoping that its a good time of year to buy.

Had my heart set on a 335D (maybe even 435) with all the toys but seen some very nice M cars, although obviously a fair bit more in terms of cost.

M4 looks lovely seen an M6 on the road today and thought mmmm I wonder

Maybe I should just go for broke (literally)
