Insurance recommendations

Due to pick up the new (to me) car in 2 weeks and just starting to look at insurance quotes. Any recommendations from anybody. Not interested in unknown companies, just common bunch like LV, Admiral and so on.

Thanks in advance.

Admiral were very good for me this year. Have been with Hughes and Co (NI) for years, but this time Admiral were better. I always start a search with confused.com or similar. Stay away from BMW their prices are laughable

Will try both and as you say, I always try a comparison site first for a bench mark. Only been in NI since November, some quotes are but some are pretty good.

I've used esure for past two years, usually change after one, but the renewal was cheaper than anywhere!! Only cost me 20p to change from TT to the BMW too
A-plan weren't competitive for me at all, well over 1k, my current insurance is just over 400

All these threads on insurance. There are so many variables with the quotes you could never compare with each other. How you use the car, how many miles you do, where you leave it, where you live, the excess on the policy, your age etc etc....

Would steer clear of Admiral, 2 relatives have both had their insurance policies cancelled without notice only to be told so by the police when being pulled over.

I give Elephant a thumbs up.

Elephant are part of the Admiral group

Wife is with admiral, her renewal came up recently and we were thinking of a chip for her golf GTI so we ran some quotes with it as such. Admiral auto renewed (left it alone as was competitive) then they sent a letter saying there were modifications she hadn't declared from information from other companies in their group and as such there was a 30 quid extra fee to pay!!! All from a quote to see what the effect would be on her premium if we did it!

Well, the Elephant subsidery is much more organised than the parent company! I wonder why they have a few subsidiaries, maybe others have had bad experience with Admiral and they saw the need to create more brands.

Still a thumbs up for Elephant and a down for Admiral.

Wasn't having a go, threads are what make a forum. Just outlining all the variables in quotes in which so many factors indicate

You'd be surprised how many insurers are actually the same group

Bell Direct are also part of the Admiral, Elephant group. Swiftcover are part of AXA. I could go on!

You can often tell by the quote engines too. Might have different colours etc but exactly the same layout, questions and options....

Well I went from one A-Plan provided policy (Equity) to another A-Plan supplier policy from Ageas Optima, premium was a little high than I thought it would be but a least i know the body kit is all listed.

I'd steer clear of Elephant, they are cheap for a reason! I've used LV for the last couple of years and very happy with their price and service.

I got quotes from elephant and admiral, direct. I then when to compare the market and got quotes from elephant and admiral that were £170 cheaper, with exactly the same info submitted. I always thought you'd be better going direct but apparently not. It pays to shop around!
