Had a quick shot of the MK7 (whichever was new 2 years ago). Really liked it but the RRP was ridiculous.
I'd always compare it with the equivalent family models and at the time i thought it was the best combo of premium performance and economy. It was very stiff IIRC. But depending on what you're used it wasn't off-putting. |

I had a 335d E91 back in 2008, so i don't know much about the car you have now. But the golf i'd imagine will feel very different to drive with the heavy engine and FWD with all that torque. I think if it's a Mk7 you really should get yourself a good hour or 2 behind the wheel on some nice road you like to drive. I'd happily have had one in my household if things had gone that way because it would have suited my needs to a tee.

My cousin has one and I agree they feel really nippy! ..look quite stealthy on the outside too.
However and there's a BUT.. Abit like its older brother the R which I sat in one the other day. The interior is just horrendous!..so plasticky and cheap feeling..couldn't jump from the 3 series tbh..even if they put a V8 in it. |

My friend has a Mk6 GTD with DSG. I really do like Golf's especially the GTI's and R32 however I wasn't really impressed with the GTD....It went OK but didn't really feel that quick imo, sounded a bit odd as well was a bit of a funny grunt off the engine, maybe just me! interiors are good, but not as good as a bmw...another friend recently opted for a passat over a bmw (and he works for bmw) and is regretting it big time.
Overall, good cars, handle really well, stop well....good MPG but It wont blow your socks off. Always scope for a remap however....
