Speed camers!!!!

On my usual drive to work at or around the speed limit of course !!! Couldn't help but notice that while I'm sitting on the roadworks along the m54 with the cruise set at 44 mph - limit of 40 working on the principle that the specs are going to be set at 10%+2 mph and potential speedo errors a number of people go tearing past !!!

Now my question is are these people going to be getting a brown envelope in the post OR am I missing something here ??

Got the same feeling and also felt myself being stupid as I had stuck to the speed limit but was overtaken by huge amount of people

See it all the time. The other people are twats. I happily stick at the limit. Its there to protect workforce so people not obeying are selfish arses that should be had on conspiracy to commit murder or something!! Imagine if something went wrong and they killed a worker whilst speeding. OK the workers are not there all the time, but that's not the point.

^ this

Punishment for speeding through roadworks should be to stand behind the cones for a shift and see how they like it...!

More annoying and dangerous is the morons that tailgate lorries etc whilst passing the cameras so number plate can't be read before speeding up in between cameras.

Find the speed limit function really useful in these situations

M54 cameras are very live and set at lowest possible limit.

http://www.expressandstar.com/news/2...st-in-country/

The link is an old one, actual numbers are increased.

It is over 10 a day being caught, chatting to someone connected to it the other week, it's more like 15 - 20 per day.

It's about 3 miles from where I live, so used to it, locals ALL do exact speed these days, most have had letters lol.

I agree. However it's annoying given the don't work weekends (in the main, or round here anyway) and the limit still applies.

The OH is from Peterborough, on my visits I've learnt that no new speed cam lasts very long. All of them get burnt down very quickly.

While they may not be working, there are usually lane changes, contraflows etc and I see people struggling with them enough at 50, let alone 70+!

Don't forget 95% of drivers on our roads are dumb idiotic morons given their licence by Mickey Mouse

+1

Even though it may look empty, one or two inspecting teams may be present, deliveries due in etc.

On the M54, one direction is 40mph and the other is 50mph, this is due to level of protection between each carraigeway.

Yesterday on the M6, were so many people doing around 70/80 in a 50 with cameras. They then brake at the cameras, can we please legally shoot these people, exactly what part I average do they miss out on.

Oh and there were 3 unmarked cars not long after the 50 zone....

Bit like crocodiles waiting for the wildebeest

Good to know. I can't be the only one to catch up on lost time after a particularly long set of roadworks. I guess they have worked that out!

The lorry situation has always puzzled me.Its the only time they get to overtake cars so they make the most of it i guess.either that or they cant stand to be held up.the irony.

It's another tax.

Given the bmer speedo normally 2mph according to my gps. I set the cruise to 44. The tomtom normally shows an average of 42.

The people overtaking are part of the 10000 a day that pay the tax/fine

Alternatively, it's people breaking the law and justifying speeding by using legality of speedo accuracy to go over limit displayed on vehicle and sat nav......

I suppose we could have a top ten list of laws it's socially ok to break

Suppose I'd better set my limited a bit lower then.

Looks like late to work again !!!

Only positive Is that there's usually someone working on the carriage way whenever I've been past !!!

Too true!

I actually got pulled over for doing 42 in a 40 and got a ticket. Of course it was eventually thrown out. The point was probably to waste time

Laws socially acceptable to break ...

#10 publicly peeing in the dark. You get a nice warm feeling but no one notices.
