hi peeps! im ordering my new rear diffuser now going to go for the one thats got the cutout option for double twin exhaust.

question is my 335d has twin pipes on 1 side and a double exhaust system is something i like the look of, but dont require the sound change or performance gains.

do you think could fit dummy pipes to the otherside? maybe they would have to be wealded on? i know we used to do this alot years ago. it is purely cosmetic for me and nothing else.

What diffuser are you going for? Bearing in mind a 335i style M Performance one only has space for single pipes each side, if you are talking about having fake pipes on one side then you would be looking at something to support quads (ie you can't remove one of your pipes so you need double fake pipes on the other side, too big to go through the cutouts in the M Perf Diffuser). I'm not sure the fake option will be very good though, especially when someone notices exhaust fumes on one side only!

You could but you shouldn't imho.

Why don't you just do what I'm going to do... Get a bit of custom work done to change it properly to a dual single exit?

I'm going to have the back box removed which makes no change to the sound of it in the car but means you can do it for a few hundred quid.

can you pst a pic when done possibly including rough price involved? deffinatly would be a better option. sounds like it would accomodate dual tips either side too as a tail cover. best of both?

cheers

You mean quads like an M3? Not sure the cut outs are big enough on the diffuser.
Also, I have the tow bar so no way I'd get a twin pipe out the right hand side anyway.
You can be sure that I'll post when it's done!

Joking apart, is this the sort of diffuser you are going for http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-BMW-F3...item2a4c02eb43

Twin pipes as per 335i yes.

Quad pipes on a tractor engine (no matter the power) no it's totally Chavtastic.

335i could probably just get away with it IF done as a full upgrade and not just fake pipes.

So yes to 335i look and personally that should be for all 6pots, with 325 and 328 having duals, the baby 4 pots can have singles.

Personally I think it'll look with quad pipes.

But it's your car at the end of the day so if it makes you happy go for it, the world would be a dull place if we where all the same.

Tell me about it both my previous E61 and the OH's E93 vert had very agreeable oval exits (for a 20d anyway) WTF were they thinking of on the F3x cars. Sure this has been flogged to death already on here before I turned up, so will say no more

When I sold my standard back box any potential desel buyers changed their mind as they were concerned about dpf in back box.

This wasn't confirmed but assume you have checked this out?

Yes I've researched a fair bit and had a ride in a forum members car which has had this done already. The DPF is much nearer the front of the system, and the back box does nowt but have a bit of baffling in it.

I would keep it though should I wish to return it to standard, though I plan to keep this car for a very long time and high mileage, so the future resale is of little concern as it's always likely to be worth more to me than anyone else!

I agree, on the right car they do. 911 Carrera S, M3/4/5, Nissan GTR all look good with them.
I think the Golf R and Audi S cars look like they're trying too hard... but that is partly knowing they are, though I do think it's the width of the car they are on and the general level of "aggression" that car has. So something overtly sporty tends to look with it.

But for me, hatchbacks, estates, SUVs, and classier looking cars eg. Aston Martin I think look best with a dual single exit either side.
So for example the rear of the Golf GTI looks better to me than the R does, and the rear of an RS4 looks way better than the S4. And the GT86 looks superb too!
