Yes, the Mercs were streets ahead, and the Hamilton was a league ahead of Rosberg by the looks of it. I had a lie in this morning but contemplating getting up early to watch it tomorrow... 5am race start?

I bought a cheap satellite dish from Ebay (£23.00) and point it at Astra 19.2 satellite and tune TV to receive the stations . There are 100s of channels of rubbish but RTL is the only one I am interested in for F1 - works a treat !. I find streaming from frombat.tv or similar is very poor quality and full of pop up adverts which are tricky to remove.

I always preferred Brundle and Crofty as commentators but give the lack of time I have these days it's unlikely I'll see any live races and Sky Sports plus extra HD works out to over 16 quid a race. Balls.

I guess there isn't anything else you'd watch?

I'll watch a bit of football, a lot of the golf (majors only), the F1, the American football... can you tell I don't have kids!

Is that the same direction as eurobird and the other astra 28. Something one or do I change the direction of the dish?

Ha brilliant!

I'll watch some of the golf, cricket all day but not fussed about the football. If really like baseball but they don't even have that!

I used to stay up late back in my student days watching baseball on channel 5. It's surprisingly addictive to watch. Shame they don't show it anymore.

You need to point the satellite dish at Astra satellite 19.2º rather than Astra 28º (the normal Sky satellite) ie point it about 9º further East (to the right). It is surprisingly easy to do. I've just retuned the TV to make sure it is working for tomorrow morning and over 1200 channels were found, all in German !

I have a 2nd satellite dish pointing to Astra 28º for free sat channels for another TV.

This website is very useful

No wonder Alonso doesn't want to race McLaren last and five seconds off the pace!

The time and the attention you give your motor is a giveaway mate! You remind me of myself 10 years ago! Make the most of it

I did this years back before they sorted the encryption. I pointed at Astra and Hotbird (dual LNB) and had around 2500 unscrambled channels. Along with dozens of movie channels, sport and porn, I also had Bernie Vision which was 12 channels of live F1 coverage not dissimilar to what Sky and the Berb do now. A pit channel, main feed, several in car channels and the data feeds. It was awesome. Sadly, the new Seca 2 encryption was launched and all the decent stuff went. Was ace while it lasted though...

Believe it or not between work and this forum I do find time to squeeze in life! Thank god for 3G and smartphones...

But yes, if sprogs came along I suspect it would all change.

No doubt about it - Sky is a rip off, they pay far too much for football and everything else suffers. I have Sky at the moment - am on 12 months half price after cancelling my contract for one month, and I will cancel again when it goes back to full price. If we all did the same the price would soon go down. I really wish all sports fans (Sky is mainly about sport in most homes) would say enough is enough and stop the money flowing into them.
