Tokyo
Anyone ever been to Tokyo?
I'm off there tomorrow and was wondering if there are any places that I shouldn't miss while I'm there. Seems like there is loads to do but there's always those random, amazing places that never make it onto all the websites. Also hoping to stumble upon some underground car meets (Tokyo drift style-haha) I'm guessing there won't be a big BMW scene over there at all! |

tokyo tower at dusk, go right to the top.
odaiba island, see if the 50m tall gundam is still there. look out for the food courts, they don't do fast food like we do, but the vending machines in food courts are an eye opener harajuku is as mad as they say on a saturday afternoon. look out for an orange guide book in the foyer of your hotel, it does 2 pages on all the key areas with a map for each. its about 60 pages thick, lots of good info. if id seen this earlier id have posted you ours. |

I went with work the other year. Amazing place. If you're going to be meeting up with a local see if they can take you to the Daikoku PA. You might catch a car meet. Or it might be loads of parked up lorries. Get ready to be thoroughly disappointed with the UK when you return. Also, good luck with the toilets. There's quite a few tasty cars driving about in Tokyo, but not as many as you'd expect. It's a different car culture in the city. The gentleman I was with found it hilarious that my car at the time was 8 years old. As if it was a novelty. Akihabara used to be the technology shopping area but when I went it was just like Currys and PC World one after another on the streets. Apparently Amazon etc has spoiled that area being as advanced and prosperous as it used to be. Amazing city though, take lots of photos.
