Key case

i appreciate this is rather old man, but for the third time in a week I have been told my boot is open advertising the fact the car is unlocked and letting in rain if it was raining, all due to having my keys in my pocket at work.

I have seen a smart leather stitched one with an x stitched in somewhere along with the msport version, but can't remember where, was it a post on here does anyone know? I searched but couldn't see a relevant post.

Cheers

You looking for something like this?

http://www.amazon.co.uk/BMW-Genuine-.../dp/B0052R5W90

I certainly am after similar events going on with my GC! (Yet another minor idiosyncrasy that BMW have introduced without a great deal of thought!)

Loads here toooooo: http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_nkw=bmw+key+fob+cover

I'm sure it was a bmw one, not and aftermarket.

Plain black, same shape as the msport for, but with a stitched x

I think I know which you are looking for but that is for the old "Bangle" key, not for the 'new' gen. key .

I got one of these but had to return it.

I don't think it was faulty but i just didn't like the way the key fitted loosely. It wasn't a good fit and just felt badly designed for its purpose.

Consensus seems to be that the cover/cases make the key very large and like said above the key pops out too easily.
Shame as they're a good idea, just poorly executed.

Yeah it's fine no problems.

Yeah it's a little bulky, though so is the key.

Also as I have the dog in the back, I definitely don't want it opening in traffic jam on motorway or junctions etc.

Keep keys in cup holder thing, have little wooly pocket

+1

It is bulky, but stops you accidentally unlocking the car or worst still opening all the windows, which was an issue when in my pocket, other key pressing down on it etc. the car would relock, but you would come back to part open windows and wet seats in the rain

It you tighten the key holder bolt it stops the key falling out (or it did on mine)

If I had comfort access, it would be even better

Also not even sure if this would help but you could try changing the Idrive setting for doors to unlock drivers only. Does the boot key then still unlock the boot on its own?

Maybe it still does just a thought...

Wrapping some rubber or plastic tubing around the spindle stops the key being loose in the case or slipping out.

Have one of these for exactly same reason as OP. Thought this had stopped the issue until yesterday however when got that call to say boot wide open......!

The boot opening feature is good but too prone to accidental opening.

I have the M Performace one....
http://www.bmw.com/_common/shared/ow...holder/key.jpg

Got it for the same reason, keep opening the boot. Makes the key chunky but rather that than leave the car open.

It seems xline is the keyword!

I just can't figure out if it's a bmw accessory or aftermarket which will probably not be a good fit

The one I got from China (copy) holds my key more secure than the OEM one bud. I have both, but chose the copy believe it or not.

Garage List
Got one too from Latvia - original BMW as got cheesed off with the boot opening up. Speaking to salesman apparently this is quite common in the garage as well
