I've never seen the point of these , a cable or Bluetooth connection has always been ample for my needs and I generally have very clear calls.

£144 would make my mind up in any case

What phone is that for?

I'm waiting for the iPhone 6 ones to come out.

I've got a spare one for an iPhone 5/5s so should sell that really

I like it because it's neat and tidy, charges the phone, works quicker to get access to my music and podcasts, improves reception a little...

So the i6 one is now available?

The handsets are a different size so no, the 6 won't fit in the 5 cradle.

I'll swap you for some tyres and a coding tutorial!

Would have to disagree, from the security and safety point of view it can't be beaten. As to the increased reception I've noticed less drop outs since using. Plus it charges while you drive so it's a win, win.

While waiting for the iPhone 6 cradle, I drilled a hole in the cover plate and poked the lightning cable through there before fixing it in place. Its a bit crude atm but it allows me to attach the phone to the cable with one hand, without looking and it holds the phone in a snug position to stop it sliding around. The only benefit I don't get is use of the external aerial.

To be honest I don't even plug the phone in that often, only of its low on battery or I know I'm doing a long journey, as Bluetooth gives me all the functionality I need on a day to day basis.

I won't be paying £144 for the cradle but may consider it when discounts pop up.

Had cradles for my old 4S & 5S. Bought both second hand & sold for same ish so no drama there. Biggest pain was that the phones don't fit with any cover on. Now find it easier just to plug phone into apple usb lead & leave in the glove box so doubt i will be buying a cradle for my 6 unless one of you lot gets bored with it & sells it cheap

By the way...I'm led to belive that the snap in adapter doesn't actually improve the reception for an iphone and SIM access profile is not allowed and thus the aerial is still via the phone ! ?

Like others I have a 4S and bought my cradle for £29 from ebay, happy days.

Yeh, It is bollocks. We have different phones so it is just stupid.

I found the universal adapter for an equally stupid price: http://mybmw.com.ua/wp-content/uploa.../PIDoc2254.pdf but at least I can use it with more than one type of phone without said physical snap in ability - (not that this works with a case). Lightning adapter rqd.

Works fine but I basically never use the actual arm - apparently it lowers slowly and gently to protect my phone - have no idea if it improves reception as asserted.

I do this too, found this short 0.5m cable useful - other MFI certified/cheaper options if you look on Amazon.

I have a cup mount holder and a 2m lightning lead so that the phone can face me in a useful place. Handy for dipping out of the bmw app and then back in. Also useful for when running the speed cam apps you can see the screen....
