Private Plate transfer and retention

Some info for you guys out there with private plates. With the new online service we will be told instantly what number plate can be put on the vehicle when the private plate goes on retention.
Also the yearly renewal fee of £25 is now waived

Garage List
I know the system works through the dealer as they were able to complete the transfer and register the new vehicle on the day I collected it. It was a straight forward for them with no fuss at all and I didn't have to go the local licensing office with a wedge of paperwork as I remember from a few years ago. At last we're moving with the times.

Doesn't this article cover putting the plate onto retention only? Not sure if placing the plate back on a car can be done online?
