Detailing

REPOST: In the correct section this time.

OK, so the car arrives today and I think i've read about as much as I can about the E92 range

I have planned a long drive down to the coast this evening to take the girlfriend for fish and chips (its a good excuse and she fell for it ) and I would think I will be out driving most of Saturday. This leaves me Sunday to give it a good detailing, and was wondering what everyone recommended?

I have used Meduiars Gold (clay bar and wax) in the past and got on pretty well with it. Also, does anyone have any suggestions on the cheapest place to get it?

Thanks

A

Agreed, I find the CG stuff I've used (wheel sealant, wax) brilliant.

Is it brand new? I snow foamed and rinsed and washed mine and then decided to go with a wax coating on top of newly polished (by the dealer) car. What a mess. i had to hand buff it three times before it started looking better than when I started.

If it isn't new, I would only use clay if the paintwork is tired looking or has road contaminants that don't come off with a wash. If it's O.K. wash shampoo and rinse, use lambswool mitts or microfibre clothes - never sponges, dry with a microfibre towel.
Any decent make wheel cleaner will do the trick. Try www.cleanyourcar.co.uk - they have a detailing forum and detailing guides, a large range of products and the service is first class (I've used them four times already and spent a fortune!)

Its 6 months old (with 3500 miles). The paintwork looks in good condition and it will obviously get a valet from BMW before I pick it up.

Will order some CG stuff now.

Thanks for your advice everyone.

<<< WARNING >>>

Detailing can become extremely addictive, force you outside on cold winter days & make a serious dent in your wallet, big time!

On a positive note, it’s good exercise and the end result is very satisfying!

2nd vote for www.detailingworld.co.uk it’s a great site.

Enjoy! Oh yea, Zaino rules!

www.detailingworld.co.uk is a superb site!

Can anyone confirm if Zymol HD Cleanse really is the best stuff to use for getting rid of minor swirl marks? Can this be used with a machine polisher?
