It's official, I'm "British" - sorta :P

Hi All!

I have been on the forums for years but never in the UK section. I just wanted to share some exciting news (to me) with you!

I just recently ascertained my UK Passport . Well the application was processed, approved, and dispatched - just waiting for it to arrive in the states.

My mother is a British citizen (born and raised in Bolton) and now lives in the states. I was born in Holland then lived near Kings Lynn in the 80s and early 90s, then moved to the US with my Mom/Dad and have been here ever since. I visit England often as my mothers family all still resides around Bolton. I wanted to retain my UK heritage/ancestry (as well as have options if I decide to move) and a few years ago found out that I am still considered a UK citizen, so I finally pulled the trigger and applied for the first UK Passport. No mess and no fuss by the HMPO - sent in my application and a week later the passport is being sent!

Totally off the topic of autos but I wanted to share

Thanks! I appreciate the comments on the car - it is starting to get to where I want it. Just in the final stages of the custom tune

You failed my British test, you used Mom rather than Mum.

^ Haha

Nothing yet, just wanted to get it in case laws changed in the future that would make it harder to obtain.

However my wife and I had discussed retiring in Europe and a UK Passport (proving I was a British Citizen) would certainly make that easier in EU countries. Mind you I am a long way away from being able to retire.
