When I Find That Sonofabitch

who had the nerve to /intentionally/ drive in front of me, and kick up that rock that gave me the first scratch(es) on my car, I'm going to do nothing whatsoever.

Finally, after 2 months of being overly cautious, purposely not following too close for fear of getting pelted with rock salt, sand etc, I've acquired the first scratches/gouges on the hood.

After the initial 2 hours of being a bit pissed and vacillating back and forth as to whether or not to get it fixed I came to the (correct) conclusion that it's a good thing!

Phuck it, it's a lease and I already intend on getting another one in 2+ years.

Happy driving everyone, spring is around the corner!

Great attitude. It's just a car after all...unless we're talking about mine.

Vote for me when I take over the universe and you have my permission to stab him in the knee with a fork for an hour.

I'm sorry for you, I wouldn't be as cool about this as you are.

Congrats on breaking the duck with your new M3!
It's bound to happen sooner or later: first scratch, first ding - that's how you personalize the car and make it your own

Perhaps the fist time anyone referred to me as cool, thanks!

Hey, don't get me wrong, I was pissed. BUT, it's a leased car that I will not be buying - and if anyone is under the impression that they're going to go 36 months without dings and scratches in this part of the country then I will produce the Loch-ness monster, Bigfoot and the Easter Bunny.

Haha!

I agree with you on the scratches and dents. They will happen and leasing is a way to shoulder the cost away.

Still, if someone does that just to disrespect others property, I would be mad. Accidents do happen but that is just wrong.

Stay cool my friend, I'll do the boiling for you. Remember to vote so I don't need to go all Russian in this.

OP you have the right attitude. It's a car and meant to be driven. You're gonna get dings now and then. It sucks, but it's better than trying to live in a bubble.

Didn't you start a thread about a door ding? If I'm not mistaken about this, do you intend to repay your door?

The first ding or scratch is always the toughest. This will likely relieve some stress around keeping the car prefect going forward

Just dab a little touch-up paint on it and be done with it.

I consider scratches, dings, etc. to be badges of honor for an M3 well driven! I don't go out of my way to get them of course, but I'm so over getting worked up over what is a losing battle. Enjoy your ride, fix the scratches and dings when its time to sell it!

I've had those damages from the rocks and can be easily repaired by a reputable paint correction detailer, so no need to fret

And no, the BMW paint work is not "soft" at all but don't expect it to be bulletproof, it's paint after all
