Heater blower not functioning
Hi everyone, today my fan blower decided to die on me, my climate control is on max but nothing is coming out from the vents... wondering if this problem can be covered under bmw's extended warranty?

I don't know about the warranty, but have you started by checking the fuses & relays? I wouldn't bother with a warranty if it was only a $1 fuse, worth a shot anyway.

This is coming up a lot lately. Try charging your battery first, when the battery isn't 100% the car starts limiting functions starting with the blower. If the battery doesn't work then it could be the blower, a fuse, the FSU or the climate control panel itself. Like I said though start with the battery.

That's exactly my issue! There's nothing wrong with your blower system- it's fine, but it's definitely related to the increased battery discharge warning- do you have a 2011 335 as well? Nevermind, I see you have a 2009. So bizarre you have the identical issue I have, and I have a 2011...
The battery discharge warning went away when I went through a car wash the other day, and the blower came back, but then the intermittent increased battery discharge warning came back, but my blower is still acting normally. I'm going to the dealer tomorrow! Last edited by Dark_Knight_335; 02-22-2015 at 08:18 PM.. |

Got an An E90,92,93? If the answer is yes, time to invest in a good battery charger. Deals probably just going to slap a charger on it and send you on your way like so many other. 2011, doubt your battery is the issue, just lack of charge time.

Probably the exceptionally cold temps and arguably too short trips I make with the car around town. I'll do that- ASAP. Got any recommendations? I see a bunch of hits on Schumacher on Amazon, but there are all different types.
Battery charger? Battery maintainer? How long is a "long enough" trip to adequately charge the battery? Thanks for any help, for both OP and myself Last edited by Dark_Knight_335; 02-22-2015 at 08:47 PM.. |

For blower motor I have the same issue even with new battery, but it was more so after going through car wash when it was warm, but it got really cold at night. I figured maybe some water got in there, as after a longer drive and restarting the car, the blower fan works fine. On a few very cold nights, my blower fan would kick in only after at least 10-15 min of driving, so it is probably related to cold / battery discharge. Right now it is around -15C in Chicago area and it starts blowing right after a few minutes. |

Yikes, I paid 250$ for an AGM battery and installed it in 20 mins.

As far as I know the only way to code the battery is either AGM or lead acid. Not sure if someone screwed you?

The battery dying issue is very minor compared to the damage to the engine (especially when one follows the light service oil change interval of more than 10000 miles because they don't realise this is severe use of the car). |
