What does everyone think of Long Beach Blue/ Red interior?

Hey Guys,

Decided to Place a order for X5M rather than take the HEA Vehicle. I'm thinking of taking Long Beach Blue with the Red interior.

Talk me out of the black interior.

Why haven't they upgraded your order to "1 - Customer Sold"? You'll wait longer than necessary otherwise...

To the OP - The red interior looks awesome. I got to see it at the Philly auto show. I haven't seen LBB yet, but that color is pretty sweet in photos.
Go with what excites you

If they change it to Priority 1, I'll be locked in to whatever rate is currently on the books. By keeping it P2, I can move to whatever program is the most favorable.

I saw the red interior at the Philly auto show also, and it looks awesome! Glad I ordered it on my X5M!

Nicely Equipped! I love that color combo! I have too many OCD's to have the red interior. I had it on two of my Porsche's, loved it with GT Silver, unfortunately it drove me crazy if someone got into my car with dyed jeans.
So now I know why my car P2, makes sense. I'm still being told week 11/12.

Btw, the kids are going to love the rear entertainment in the back! I never realized how expensive it was.

No kids here. Just friends and family, plus my dog. I'm buying this to be the road trip car for weekend trips to Tahoe, Vegas, etc. Going to add a second car (not sure what yet) to satisfy track days.

And the RSE is the one thing I'm debating omitting at this point. But any changes might push my build back, so I'll likely just go with it.

I LOVE long beach blue

I wish they offered that color on the m3 instead of the paler Yas Marina Blue which I am really not a fan of at all. Seeing Long Beach Blue on the X5m and X6m really made me rethink what I had hoped that YMB would turn out looking like. Actually if you look at pictures of the Yas Marina Circuit in Dubai, the color on the track looks much more like Long Beach Blue then it does YMB which is why I was so disappointed originally. (http://www.abudhabitravelcentre.com/...arina-circuit/)

Thankfully I got my car in Sakhir Orange instead and sprung for an individual amaro brown interior!

Black is such a "run of the mill" BMW interior color. Its nice and classy, but the best word I could possibly use to describe it is "uninspiring." My first BMW was a Le Mans Blue 335 with a red interior, and man did that thing turn heads. . . Blue with red is a killer combo and that Long Beach Blue is such a sharp head turning color. . . You don't want people to get bored when they actually get in the car

I just went on the builder and the only thing I like more then the red for the interior is Aragon Brown. I think that is a touch less in your face while still being utterly bad ass and beautiful.

Anyways, just trying to help as you had asked

Ordered everything except Nightvision, Rear Seat entertainment and parking assistant?

Is parking assistant even useful? My SA said it was useless along with the night vision.

Parking assistant is awesome. I had it on my Range Rover, and we have it on our Mini (!). We were told both times it wasn't worth it.

Makes parking in crowded streets DRAMATICALLY easier - you just cruise along with it looking for a right sized space, when it "bings" - check it's not illegal to park there, then let it do its thing.

Night Vision I haven't tried.... but I like the idea of being warned of cyclists and dog walkers I haven't seen in the foggy dark mornings.....

I haven't been able to find out yet if the Parking Assistant option is fully automated like it was in my F15, meaning it steers, accelerates, and brakes automatically. The transmission is derivative, so I think it would be. On other BMW cars, it's partially automatic - you brake and accelerate.

I'd assume it would be too - despite the M/DCT appearance shift lever, it's really still an auto underneath, so I'm guessing it's the fully auto derivative.

That said, the Mini one (which is the same F-generation technology) requires you to shift gear, and that works fine.... anything else is a bonus at that point ;p

I love the parking assistant. And I say that as a relatively good parker.

Night vision is completely useless. I paid for it once. Never again.

I wouldn't say that. It depends on where you live. I used it frequently here in San Francisco on foggy nights. Helped give me situational awareness to bikers and pedestrians I'm sharing the road with. I've had too many close calls.

Almost back to the OP's topic... I just found this "walkaround" video of an X6M in LBB, only it's out in actual daylight this time ;p
