Swap interior at a dealer?

I feel like changing my interior. Its one of the last few mods left and I have always wanted chestnut interior or coral red which sadly is not an option for the E90.

Recently I have seen a good amount of chestnut interior equipped cars pop up at small local dealer lots. Anyone thinking up calling the dealer and offering $800 + my interior which is black leather think its a good idea?

Obviously I will pick a car that has identical options so its a easy fair swap.

So you want to call the dealer and offer them $800 to swap your interior with one of their cars? ... I am not so sure that they will accept...

I think it's a wonderful idea if you record the negotiation and upload it to YouTube so we can all peek!

While you're at it, stop by the grocery store and try swapping your dozen eggs for 10 pounds of Canadian bacon.

They definitely won't do it.
If I remember correctly, the cars interior colors are recorded on VIN number as well so if they change it, things are going to get messy.

The only way for you to change it is if you find another person to swap or a salvaged car and then pay a mechanic.

Also, it is not as easy as it seems since the car's options might not be what your options are. Different optioned seats are not compatible. I.e. Sports packaged seats, heated seats, etc.

IMO, don't waste your time. It's going to run you months and a lot of money...

good luck with that. Maybe record while you asked them and post it here

in all seriousness I highly doubt any dealer would do this for you and if a dealer were to do this , I m pretty sure 800 won't even be close to what they would charge you. Just labor alone would be a lot more than 800$ and they would more than likely charge you extra for their interior. I would guess an interior swap at the dealer would be well over 2000$

I also do not think you can swap interiors between e90 and e92 without some fabrication being involve

On the other hand it may be easier to this interior change at a reputable upholstery. I was thinking of doing a leather interior in my mazda 3 back in the days and I got quoted it 1600 to do it. BMW may be somewhere between 2000-3000 $ and you get to pick colour and its brand new

Highly unlikely. I work at a dealer and when a Saddle or Coral Red interior comes in, we've specifically sought it out. They are generally more popular among the used BMW crowd than your standard colors, and thus sell quicker and for more money.

I would keep your $800 and give them your E90 - just drive off with the monthly payment and the interior you want.

Otherwise, there are other options. Search for a used interior, or dye it yourself.

I replaced my whole leatherett interior with leather interior from a donor 335i. I had manual seats, so the new seats had to be totally wired for the options (6). Cost: seats $600., the labor at a indy: $600. and he gave me a deal on that. Well worth it to me.
