Which Tune do you have?

I have read about all the posts I can about available engine tunes for our cars. Curious to see which is the most popular to the folks who have been teaching me about the 335i.

I think a more telling poll question would be: have you converted from one platform to the other

No

if yes, then
COBB --> JB4
or
JB4 --> COBB

Each of them have their pros and cons. Most popular are JB4 and Cobb. However id say JB4 is more common because it is cheaper.

I like this and I would like to see those results. Also, anyone that had gone from the PPK to Cobb or JB. Lotsa variables.

I run a backend flash via Cobb AP and a JB4 + FF wires. Backend flash is from Terry at burger tuning.

I started with the PPK and went to the COBB and now in the midst of an eTune w/PTF

BMS was vague, when I asked how the piggyback (ISO was relatively new at the time) would work against the non-standard (+/-12 psi) map of the PPK

Yes, but you also don't have my dilemma: I'm scheduled for a brake flush in a couple of months and I'm going back and forth on putting back in the stock DP. Regardless of what I do with the DP, I'm leaving on the passive aftermarket items: chargepipe and FMIC.

Not yet. I loaded the backend flash, went to the dyno, and found my clutch slipping on the dyno. Ordered my 550 clutch and then my car got rear ended ($11k in damage.) just got the car back a few weeks ago. Installed the clutch and just finished my break in. Now I'm installing a meth kit since E85 is a pita to get here in Raleigh since one of our two stations stopped carrying it.

So I'm curious how the meth will work out on my car. I also have a LPFP upgrade. Hoping I can squeeze out some good power on 93 + meth.

You should be fine brother- they won't be going after any of your mods unless there is a failure specific to them.

Curious to see your results. Why not a Clutch masters or motiv clutch? And I was also doing some tests and someone ended up hitting my car. 7k in damages but got a nice new color paint job and widen quarter panels so all is good lol

After doing a lot of research on the 550 clutch it seems like it will hold the power level I'm looking for. Some guys are making 600 ft lbs on it without slipping. It's also extremely inexpensive compared to the aftermarket clutch options I was looking into.

I plan on going stage 2 turbo in the near future and will put it to the test. Worst case scenario I'm out $350. Best case I got away with a much cheaper upgrade that works great and has stock like pedal feel.

That sucks about your car. All of my damage was to the rear bumper, trunk, and rear panel. The 1/4 panels and frame rails were not damaged. If they were I would have gone with M3 rear 1/4's so I could fit more tire back there. I did get some nice upgrades though. PE and carbon rear! diffuser

Mine was also just rear bumper and a small dent on the 1/4 panel I just got lucky with the amount of money they gave/appraised the damage at. Ended up working a deal with the shop and painted my black car san marino blue metallic. Also a plus I am now able to fit a 12" wide wheel with 285 tire and only -3 camber

Newer BMW models have their ECU code encrypted so Cobb won't work for those and JB4 is the only option. One thing with Cobb is that you can collect data logs and then have your car remote tuned. This is not possible with JB4.

I am not cool as I have the Dinan 3. It does 15 psi according to the Dinan rep I spoke with. And no, it does not nosedive in power above 5 K.

I had no idea one Tune was cooler than another. Do both the Cobb and JB drop power above 5k?

The tuning isn't the reason power drops after 5k. The stock turbo can't support boost levels above 11-12psi above 5k RPM's so all of the aftermarket tunes target lower boost in the upper rpm's.

I go into my dealer FBO minus my JB4 and everything is cool. Just talk to your SA about it.

Right now I'm running ppk 1 with jb4 iso.. Once I go pure stage 1 and later stage 2 might make the move to Cobb/ptf
