It's happened to every car I've ever had in winter so nothing to suggest the F30 is any worse.

An occasional forum user called Zorroone or Zorrone (something like that!) fitted mudflaps to his tourer... May be worth sending him a PM to ask how helpful he's found them.

Yes, it's winter & the roads are covered in shite. Flaps might help a little but they usually look pretty naff.

I'd get it back to the dealer quick for diagnosis.

But I think you'll find its a known issue with the F30.

My F30 doesn't suffer from this. It stays clean through out the year.
Sounds like the dealer should take a look!

I do find the boot / rear plate area does get dirtier on the F30 then on E90 I suspect down to air flow behind the car in aim to get better drag

You could take a look at some of the modern sealant type coatings that have terrific slickness and some, like GTechniq, that resist dirt and repel water so as to keep the car cleaner longer. Also makes cleaning a doddle.

I agree 100%!

I wonder if the rear diffuser would help stop this (Man Maths at work)

Mine is absolutely minging.

probably clean it in March.

It had a good winter prep so pretty much all the muck will drop off.

I noticed the other day still beading.

Pressure washer, snow foam, wash mitt, wheel whoolies, supernatural, FK100P all on standby.

Tourers do get very dirty behinds though.

There was a recent scientific journal publication on the very same matter and I think the conclusion was due to 3 variable factors, speed, road conditions and weather omitting the very obvious fact that some colours stay cleaner than others..

Mine's black and looks fifthly very quick.

However, noticed a white one today and I have to say I think a dirty white car looks a lot worse than a dirty black one (black and white being accepted as the two worse colours to keep clean).

Yeah, they do tend to get rather dirty at this time of year.

I'll wash mine in a few weeks, and see if I correctly remembered what colour it is.

BSM, get about 12 clean miles running then dirty again, you have to love cleaning cars to own a black car!

Looks like to I am going to have to pay the locals down at the petrol station £5 every week to spruce it up at the moment then I agree looking at the mud flaps they don't suit the car really. Thanks chaps.

... get a pair of buckets, grit guard, good mitt, Meg's hyper wash! Don't let them locals destroy it. I watched the local petrol station the other week, going down the line of cars with the dirty, grit-matted foamy brush... it made me cringe.

Ditto

The ones beside Morrisons near us, one of them dropped his sponge mitt and calmly picked it up and kept washing car - silver merc 14 plate.

TBH, IF YOU DO A GOOD PREP, THEN ITS ABOUT 10 mins pressure wash and 10 mins wash MIT with some Aqua wax or similar, no need to dry.

Likewise, I hate it getting all dirty at this time of year!!!

But seriously, I've run winter tyres for many years now and firmly believe that the car gets a lot dirtier with them on because of the work they do....
