you realise you still have to have a higher maximum bid than the person your bidding against. doesn't matter how few seconds you leave, if you bid 300, but second placed guy has a maximum bid of 310, your not winning it :P
the price only increases just enough to beat the next in line, so although the bidding is at 150, doesn't mean to say his maximum bid isn't £1000 |

Yep, always use a bid sniper set to 3 secs and the max I would be willing to pay. Then if I win - great and if I lose I'm not disappointed as it went for more than I would have paid anyway.

Not sure I understand how the Bid Snipers help these days?
Item listed for £100. Person A. puts there max bid at £250. Bid is currently therefore @ £100. Person B comes in with 3 seconds to go and a bid of £200. Therby does not win the item, as person A is automatically bid up to £201 Am I missing something the bid sniper does to prevent Person A still winning the item? Or does the bid sniper just do the same thing as eBay just at the last minute? IE. you set £300 and it bids up to £300 then stops. If thats how it works, is 3 seconds really enough time? Does it actually achieve anything that just setting your max bid on eBay would not have done? Curious is all. Not used eBay much recently. Cheers |

The point of sniping is that it stops the game of people pushing their bets up once they see that someone else has outbid them, preventing engagement of a bidding war. I always set my limit and bid 10-15 seconds before the end. Even with that time I've seen people re-bidding and re-bidding trying to get the item that apparently is suddenly more valuable to them now. |

Depends what I am buying. If its for me its 2 seconds to go, but the Mrs gets really twitchy if I leave it that late.

Phew, 2 secs is really scary stuff. I have tried 1 and 2 secs and have missed out as my bid was not registered. Good one if it works for you. lets hope you are not bidding on the 2 things that i have snipes on ending in about 2 hours.....
