New tyre advice
Need new rear tyres for my e92.
Currently have uniroyal rainsport 3 which have been pretty good but there seems to be very good prices on Goodyear f1 assymetric 2. Other suggestions welcome. |

I ran Kumhos last summer. Less than £400 for a set of 19's. Really impressed with them.

I currently have Rainsports 3 on the rear, no complaints good wet grip...I'm looking at changing out the fronts and will take a look at WM's suggestion. I have been looking at http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Article...-Tyre-Test.htm looking at the Conti simply because it is usually top or in the top 5 of every review...I also read on this site that BMW will now be using the Conti 5 going forward?? http://www.oponeo.co.uk/tyre-details...-y-xl#83061945
Anyone using this tyre on the forum? Cheers Russ

I'm putting about 450 bhp through them. So I expect them to wear. I think I will get 2 summers out of the rears. I do give them plenty of abuse though.
Overall the reviews are pretty accurate. I would say they wear a little more than average but nothing alarming. Quiet on the motorway and great in the wet. Offering plenty of grip in the dry. WM |

I personally didn't like the Conti 5p I have them all round on mine and my car is constantly spinning up. No grip in the wet, not too bad in the dry but not nearly as good as the michelin pilot super sport which is my next purchase. Obviously everyone has a different setup and their own perspective. I think you get a rough idea but the final decision is yours. Best thing to do is get as much info as possible then just risk it lol!

For what it's worth, Evo magazine did thier annual tyre test recently, and the top three in the final ratings were:
1. Continental Sport Contact 5 2. Pirelli P Zero 3. Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2

I ran Conti 5's on my 335i and I wasn't too impressed with them. The Michelin Pilot Super Sports I'm running now (albeit on a M135i rather than a 335i) are a far better tyre. They're exceptional in the dry and good in the wet. They also wear far better than the conti's. I've done 12k miles now and they still have plenty of life left in them. The Contis were ready for changing at 12k. The super sports are noisy and not great in cold conditions but they are the best tyre I've used and I'll be sticking with them when my tyres need replacing. |
