Black B-pillars looking nasty

my black b-pillars are showing a ton of fine scratches - especially in the sun.

it's really detracting from the cars appearance.

i have been very careful when washing - clean microfiber towels, etc

any suggestions on their care? i can't tell if they are plastic, painted plastic, or painted metal.

thanks

Worst part of my F30 is this shadow line trim. It's plastic. It scratches if you look at it funny. Best way to clean it is to blot it dry with microfiber towels. Blot.... any up and down or sideways motion and Voila - swirl city. It can be cleaned up using a polishing wax and a very light machine buffing. Or by buying replacements and installing them.

I can't wait to clean these things up on my car when it gets nicer out, I'm sure they will become swirl city very quickly tho.

FlagBonz if you do decide to polish them then do what vonmayr said and only buff it lightly with a machine, I wouldn't use a high speed on a polisher on these trim pieces, probably has very thin paint and clear coat.

There's no way to stop them from looking like that, but you can partially fill in the swirls with a good clear sealant or wax.

I noticed that this might be an issue the week I got my car and ended up having the b-pillars covered with xpel ultimate when I had the front end done about a week later. It helps quite a bit. The smudges and potential for scratches are reduced significantly.

I was wondering about doing that - I may just wind up having them do the cups, the trunk shelf, and the B pillars.
