todays work and dyno results!!! woohoooo!!

today i headed to the performace centre in sunderland to have my JB4 and vrsf downpipes fitted. then finally a dyno run to see the results! work took a little longer than expected and they had the car for aproximately 7 hours. however for the good bit....... now its loaded with JB4, dci intake, catless downpipes and gutted secondary cats. the car now sounds amazing and alot more vicious than before the uptake on boost (which is about 3000 rpm) pins you in your seat and it just keeps pulling upto about 6500 rmp!!! needless to say your breaking many laws by the time you've had fun in the first 2 gears running on 99 ron fuel (shell V power) and an outside temp of about 0 degrees it managed 414bhp!!! im a very happy chappy indeed and now got the sort of power i've been after for years!!

Good work. A nice solid figure and right where I would expect.
What map were you running in?

Hi OP,
you've got catless down pipes (same model as me) but what did you do to the secondary cats? How's that done?

Does this mean gaming the MOT emissions test?

Also are you on manual/auto/DCT. I took my car to a dyno but they didn't seem to know how to test my DCT box. Getting into neutral. One reading came in as 424bhp but that was tweaked down to 380. Don't think they knew what they were doing unfortunately.

thats a great figure.

I already have the JB4 fitted and a bigger intercooler but my down pipes are sitting in the garage gathering dust so I really need to get them fitted... I need 400+ bhp in my life

im running a manual gearbox. call me strange but i seem to be the only person who does not like the auto's haha!! basically i dropped my exhaust off (i had a ramp to do so) opened up a section in each of the cats and removed the internals. after just welded them
back up. yes it does effect the emissions and it will fail its MOT but that isnt much of a problem being on mot tester myslef!! theres only little gain for removing the 2nd cats but the noise is abit naughtier which i like!

Good for you!
The sound must be cool. My brother has a totally decatted Civic Type R and he gets it through the MOT tests also. £££ It's crazy loud.

I'm considering a few minor mods. The meth injection kit is top of the list right now.

Did all of your sensors go nuts? After I got mine off the dyno (it had to be driven by the garage owner on the rolling road) all the lights are on. ABS error, DSC error, Flat tyre warning. As the front wheels weren't turning while the back wheels were doing up to 147mph.
I don't even know if the guy who tested mine knew to turn off the dtc/dsc fully? My car may well have been going full pelt but cutting power thinking it was skidding or even trying to brake different wheels. Added with the DCT not wanting to go to neutral at 147mph I have no faith in the dyno run I got. I need to retest it somewhere more knowledable in BMWs.
The guys didn't know what a 335 was. They didn't know what capacity the engine was and they later asked me if it had a turbo. They said it looked like it was making far more power than what they would expect. How can that be when you clearly have no idea what it is? I wasn't impressed and I won't go back there. It was cheap. I suppose you get what you pay for.

Oh, luckily I have autoclear on the JB4. My brother's M5 reset it's ABS warnings etc after a few miles of driving. I then kept getting a right rear brake light failed for 3 days. Planned to check it at the weekend suspecting a loose connection but then it stopped and hasn't returned in 8 days.

sounds like a top quality tuner you went to awsaws hahaha!! i had no problem with any lights what so ever. everything seems to be how it should. only thing is theres now a slight missfire i can feel going up through the rev range but a change pf spark plugs should solve that (alot more boost makes the plugs stuggle to fire if their worn) oh and man15h get them downpipes fitted asap. thier awesome!!

Slight missfire could be anything , plugs, injectors, O2 sensor a whole host of things. Been there, done that

Mine was the pre cat O2 sensor but changed a whole load of things tracking it down.
Are you going to go for the upgraded NGK plugs ?

I ordered 6 plugs when I started getting a misfire but swapping coil packs actually solved it and it hasn't come back. Which is odd. I just swapped the coil packs to different locations. I am wondering if there was a poor connection or condensation.
I spoke to Idnan (an experienced tuner and a really top bloke on here) who got the specialised NGK plugs but said they proved to be more hassle than they were worth. So I got standard plugs.

I will be swapping the plugs in when I swap the engine oil and brake fluid etc in June.
