Detroit BMW Scene

Looking to move back to the Detroit area here in the next 6-7 months, how is the e90post following?

Any of you have any automotive contacts for a mechanical engineer with a background in diesel OBD, dynamometer testing, maintenance, and all-around auto knowledge/enthusiast (5+ years experience with a UofM degree)? Any leads would be appreciated and resume can be provided at request.

Ah nice, yeah I'd be looking at living in one of those areas as well. I'm looking to stay in the auto industry, but not necessarily within the areas I listed. Just trying to keep my options open at this point, I would like to stay within engineering but have more of a team roll or supplier connection as opposed to just solo test cell work.

Looking forward to getting to know a new crowd of bimmer owners!

cool beans. i moved out to chicago last summer so i'm not sure how often the old crew has gotten together since i left. of the other MI E90 members i've met, everyone is pretty chill.

Good to hear. I was also looking into Chicago for awhile but just recently decided against it, my brother lives there and loves it. Appreciate the responses though!

I just moved here from the Northeast and the scene seems none-existant for BMWs. I see a couple poorly modded ones around, but nothing tasteful or nice on a frequent basis. Just my observations coming from an area where the BMW scene is vibrant.

As for work, I work at one of the OEMs, there are good positions open right now if you look, especially in OBD/calibration/software, testing.

couple of us left michigan for various personal reasons. a lot of people have other priorities so getting together isn't always at the top.

there's an annual meet in the chicago area where BMW's from IL, MI, OH, IN, WI stop by. do a search for "big meat" haha

A lot of the Detroit BMW guys from the forums that used to meet up for the auto show and random BBQs, etc., have since moved past the e90post and onto M3s M5s and the associated forums. A couple have moved out of Michigan also.

Nice! Looks like we're starting to get a few people out of the woodwork. I'm originally from Kalamazoo, are roads much worse on the East side?

peeps usually hibernate during the winter or they just lurk around researching parts.

depends on what part of the east you're talking about. some major roads are being repaved while others continue to get worse

I work in the detroit area, so I am open to anything around the work schedule in the area. I live a bit south of the city as many of you already know. I do have the space out in the country to entertain should we want to have a meet of some sort and need space. I hosted our group walnut blast last spring and think we all had a pretty good time hanging out...

Anyone ever do cars and coffee in Novi? With the weather how it's been none of us have gone. I'm also new to the BMW scene so I'm trying to find a group to meet and get to know others, especially their cars. I'm pretty sick of the Woodward kiddie scene.
