Im selling my car

Ive had my car 6 months now and getting itchy feet (thats the trouble with being in the motor trade), and to be honest I need to free some money up in the car for another purpose. And as my youngest son is now in a forward facing seat, I can go back to a hot hatchback, which is what Ive always had and I love them. It looks like Im going for an S3, bit of a change I know, but Ive had all the hot Golfs, dont like the 135i, as it only has two seats in the back, and I only like german cars - snob eh!!!!

My S3 spec is
White
Black 19" BBS Ch Wheels
Re-map - to approx 320BHP ish
Black and red leather
IPOD
privacy glass
Black optics kit
Sunband - Yes AUDI charge you for this as well!!!
BOSE
Bluetooth GSM Kit
Lumber Support
Lighting pack
And auto lights and wipers

I am putting my car back to standard spec, and putting it up for sale - £35995, if anyone is interested? That is with the wheels. there are very few M Sport 335D about with my spec and that seems about the right price, especially as I can sell it through my work.

I have an S3 for a long weekend soon, just to confirm its what I want, if not I dont know what Ill get??

Still ,watch this space

I have loved my 335D, it is the best car by far that Ive owned, and will miss it, but equally am looking forward to a new car - 6 months is the normal amount of time I keep a car, even though I said Id keep this for two years - My wife is not surprised, funnily enough

The 997 will have to wait!!!

I think the grille surround gets blacked out and the headlamps are black except for the four chrome surrounds around each light - makes the front look quite stealthy IMO

Great choice of car OliH!! I love S3's and white is defo the colour to have!!!!!!!

If you want to free up a bit of cash buy the same car but with a VW badge in the R32. Will drive the same £5k cheaper and you can have 5 doors for the family. Looks nicer to imo.

But then it's easy to spend other peoples money.

Came from a MKV R32, and a MKV GTI before that - Both very good cars but I fancy something different, and the R32 is in free fall at the moment, as its in the top emmissions group, and horrendous on fuel, no matter how you drive it.

The 5 Door S3 has just come out, according to my dealer, however Id need to see one first, but Im also tempted to wait a bit, as there is a rumour that a DSG version is on the cards, and that is the best gearbox Ive used - instant gearchanges, and when in auto mode absolutely seamless gearchanges.

Very good points on the Golf I am sure and you will be much closer to the market than me. I guess the pic of the Golf range is either of the 2.0l Diesels or the GTI.

I fear the S3 5 Dr will be very similar to your current car with DSG and hence you will trade and maybe wonder why you have done it. The 5 Dr Audi is a smaller estate.

I would consider saving the money and looking at the 911 in the future and keep hold of your current car.

Cracking choice OliH, love the new S3, there's just something about them for me that's a bit, well, better than the R32. Can't quantify it but I just like them more. Oh and great choice on the colour

Hi oli,

I had an S3 for the weekend a few months back.

Very quick car compared with the MK5 GTI the speed you can come out of roundabouts is stupid, drives very well. Very good build quality and great looking.

Bad points, bose sucks compared with logic 7, only manual at the mo and I wouldnt have it in manual only S tronic which will be out soon as the TTS has S tronic.

Steering is very light almost too light, dont go for the standard seats they look really sh*t, go for recaros.

Engine noise low down sounds like a diesel infact it sounds crap, sounds great when reved.

Other than that I really liked it, gets loads of people looking at it as the one I had was in the RS4 blue and it would be the colour I'd have.

Before buying my BMW I test drove a couple of S3’s and came very close to buying a used one, but to be honest it just didn’t feel that special and definitely overpriced, it felt soulless after driving the R32, the engine note was not very pleasing, the dash a little dated, after all the designs a few years old now. I looked at one in blue and though with the colour coded side skirts, it just looked like a slab.

It is a quick car though albeit in a rather undynamic way.

I sold my R32 back to the dealer and only lost £1200 in 6 months, they bought it without seeing it, so I don’t think their market has died yet, not even with high road tax.

I still miss this car very much

An 06 R32 went through the auction last week with 14k on it with leather recaro's for £16400 - And you dont think they are loosing money - Every dealer has two in stock due to oversupply!!!!, Oh and Ive had one so I wont get another - Build quailty isnt what it was with the MkIV - Great drive and aural entertainment.

Dont get me wrong the S3 is overpriced and like all cars you will loose money, but you make your choice.....

And three times as many 3 GTi's but there's still a waiting list.

I was only going buy YOUR comments, "I need to free up some money" and to my mind an R32 would be cheaper to buy than the S3.

I never have the same car twice!!! Its hard enough as it is, I get bored after 6 months or so, normally, and I had mentioned in my earlier post about having had all the Golfs already. yes I know the S3 isnt as good a drive as the R32, but its a lot quicker, more subtle and after a few suspension tweeks should handle every bit as well, if not better

It's no worse than black to keep clean though you do have to really look after the paint surface if you know what I mean with a good wax, or stuff that sticks will really show up.

Do it!!! I don't agree with the comments on the S3 vs R32 looks. The sporty Mk V Golfs look OK to me (GT, GTi and R32) but a bit 'blobby' compared to the A3. They are undoubtedly superb drives though. Just my opinion And that's after owning 1 Mk 2, 1 Mk 3 and 4 Mk IV Golfs.
