Replace 335i brake rotors and calipers

Hi all,
New to the forum. I'm replacing both the font rotors and calipers for my 08 335i sport pkg. Appreciate folks has done this kind of project before help to recommend bands besides going back to the stock stuffs. BTW, anyone knows the original stock part number of these items?

Thx!

calipers or pads?

I like the cool carbon pads... never saw a need to change from OEM rotors for normal daily driving.

I'd the Brembo big brake but it fails for local Hong Kong Government safety inspection (6 years old car) So I need to change them back to stock items but I'd no idea what the alternative bands. That's why I try to get advice here. Thanks.

Thanks. I looked up and wondering there was a price shown on the item list e.g.
01 CALIPER HOUSING RIGHT 1 34116773202 $308.45

I believe the "3411677320" is the official BMW stock item number, how about the price tag of $308.45? Is it the list price from BWM or it's just an OEM pricing? Thanks again.

I bought this car about three years ago and it already installed the Brembo big brake on the front and therefore I don't have the original ones. Now as I failed the local safety inspection, I'll need to replace them with the original stock and try to get pass again. BTW, the Brembo is great, really love it but...sad...

Thx.

I mean no disrespect to you when I say this but wtf?

You can't upgrade your brakes where you are from and drive on public roads?

Yes, it's every year if the vehicle older than 6 years then you'll need to visit the local Government inspection center for checking everything similar to the smog test (I guess) back in the State. BTW, if they found there is an DVD installed in the front seat, you fail...for safety reason...you can't register your car without passing the inspection.

Thank you sir. What I'm doing now is try to source the calipers first whether or not there was no alternative but simply ordering from directly from BM while comparing the price ordering from HK and somewhere else. There was no much info (understandable) about installing the calipers which worry me most...but thank you all here in this forum for helping me out. Just for you guys info, most of BM owners here won't DIY, I would say 90% they don't because too busy for making money I guess so not much on hand DIY close by except going to indy or dealer...

Wow, that's really stupid. Especially when the aftermarket Brembos are better than stock.

Yes, my friend is driving 525i. After he drove mine once, told me that the performance is at least 30% better than his BM brake.

To the OP, you said your car failed the examination. was it because it purely due to the mod it has on the brake or failed the brake power test?

Instead of going back to stock, you can look at the Motorsport brake package offer by BMW HK as I believe this should be "legal". You can source the same package in German motor for less $.

It failed due to a "bridge" (Chinese term) which was a little mounting kit connecting the caliper and the hub. I did ask BM HK and the quote is ~$55K HKD to restore back to the stock and thanks for the suggestion on the Motosport brake pkg and I will ask them as well. I decided to DIY because spending $55K to downgrade the overall car performance? I noticed that you are also from HK. Did you or your friend DIY their BM brakes?

I guess their requirement is to have the caliper directly bolted to the hub like the original design. Are you sure the caliper kit is designed for this particular car?

My friend has a garage and I went there most of the time because he has a motorised jack pad and power tools that make DiY a lot easier. Yes, we did many DiYs on my E46 over there. For my E92, I replaced the alternator over there 3 weeks ago.

My E92 was in BMW HK(because I don't have time at that moment) last year to replaced brake disc and pads at all 4 corners and the invoice was at HKD25K so I am not that surprise about the price they quoted to you.

To going back to stock, it is definitely a DiY doable thing if you don't mind to get your hands dirty and you are quite comfortable to change the spark plugs yourself. Make sure you find all the parts you need and 2 litre of DOT 4(I used the OEM)to flush the brake with new fluid.

PM me if you need help.
