1st Service

Does the first service have to be carried out at 1,200 miles exactly? What happens if you exceed this mileage by a 100/200 miles does if affect warranty?

They told me it would be fine 100 miles over. Few hundred I think would be OK but don't push it.

I got mine done at 1320 miles

The manual says DO NOT exceed the 1200 and my dealer seemed keen for me to get it done any time I passed 1000 miles but they didn't mention anything about warranty issues if not. In the end mine got done on 1208 miles.

It's painful isn't it! Mine took 4 weeks but that was only because I ended up traveling up and down the country several times over the Christmas period to see family.

Bring on the RPMs this weekend

Do you notice anything different after this first service? Or does it just give you the green light to rev it to the red line?

It was actually freezing and just a few miles home, so I've not noticed anything just yet, the Amber lights were round to about 5500RPM. Will have look today into work.

My car pings up and tells me it is 17K till the next service every time I start it at the moment so looks to be true.

Hey mate, what did your BMW dealer do with your 1st run-in service?

having read

http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1007985

Following should be done:

1) New oil filter
2) New screw for engine oil pan/plug
3) New screw for differential
4) Oil engine quantity and which BMW engine oil?
5) Oil for differential/LSD and quantity?
6) launch control will be enabled, reset the computer via ISTA.

Replace the oil plug/screw and differential screw/plug for new ones.

Would like to know if UK owners had the following done as well

Pretty sure about all of them except the replaced screws are not specifically listed on my check sheet.

You might want to speak to them again. This is what is being done at the moment.. I'm not too happy about it and want to speak to them again.

Not sure if transmission oil for the DCT also needs to be changed.

Bit too concise for my liking... they need to replace:

Oil filter: 11 42 7 854 445
Screw for engine oil pan/plug: 11 13 7 535 106
Gasket ring: 07 11 9 963 132
Screw for differential (x2): 33 11 7 525 064

Can you check yours?
