Clear Bra vs. No Clear Bra??? (Paint Protection Film)

Curious - how many of you put on clear bras (PPF) on your M's following delivery?

Vote and share your experiences!! For those who did not install any PPF, post pics of your car's front end and the current mileage so we can see what to expect with normal wear. Thanks!!

I DD mine, and based on all my previous car experiences, I thought to invest in frontal protection this time around... or maybe it's just forum influence

Edit: Thanks to karussell and his team at RSAugusta for making the effort to meet me out at the Performance Center to get PPF done. Unfortunately my limited time and itinerary didn't allow to make it to Augusta, and the PC didn't provide any avenues to have it done at their facility. Keep up the great work guys!!

Also added pics from the PPF process. The film was pre-cut and installed (no knife to paint), the only downside being the body panel edges aren't covered.

If its a lease and you don't plan on buying it end of the lease, seems like a waste IMO.

Good point. Wonder how many people buy their cars at the end of a lease? May have to follow up with that 3 years down the road.

I got a nick on the hood of my F80/M3 the first day I drove it. The frustrating part of this is that I saw the debris coming when it hit. Whatever do you need to protect your investment especially if you live in Northern California, so much debris on the roads. I put my car up until I clear bra the baby.

I paid for my car myself, I drive it like it was meant to be driven and the northern blood makes me a nudist in all areas. This too.

Any recommendations? Would you get the front bumper and hood only? I haven't had too many scratches from debris anywhere but the hood and front bumper.

Yes I have a few recommendations

1. Do not tailgate.

2. Do not even mad as hell tailgate.

3. Do not go pass a truck if not in position to do it fast.

4. Do not tailgate.

You have had more than a few scratches from debris to the tune of $13k.

Recommendation on the clear bra is to do the whole front end - full hood, fenders, bumper, headlights, mirrors. It is worth it in the long run.

I never installed clear bra before on my cars (mostly light colored).
However, on my M3 (black), I easily noticed rock chips on front bumper.
It is must-have item on dark colored car. Rock chips on AY may not be that noticeable.

If you do get one, just make sure to get Xpel Ultimate. 3M clear bras don't have good reviews. You can't beat Xpel's self healing bra with 10 year warranty.

Lmao; the guy ran over a pole or some shit and it's costing him 13k and 6 weeks without his car IIRC.

How noticeable it is depends on the color and the lighting. Also dirt/wax tend to build up in the seam. The cost difference to do a full hood with wrapped edges is really not great most places and was worth it to me. Just my opinion.

Yes I ran over a "pole". I am not going to explain this again. You can continue to be an immature moron. Keep bringing karma on yourself. I hit an unavoidable steel pipe that damaged my undercarriage.

End of story. The clear bra is something I have always wanted to prevent debris from scratching my bumper and hood.

Ok cool, that's what I will do. And the damage was under the car so again, a separate issue.

This is my first time commenting on it, I didn't read the full story I only saw the cliff notes. I honestly don't care what happened either way -- no need for name calling, but if I see your car and you'd like to continue calling me an immature moron I'll be sure to piss on it.
