MPPK or JB1?

I am just doing some prelim research on potential tunes that I might want to get later in the future. I am not looking to get huge gains such as from JB4, and am really just looking at JB1 or the mppk

I really just want a reliable tune and so I definitely wouldn't mind paying extra for the BMW tune. Tischer is selling the mppk for 950 whereas shopbmw has it for 995, or an estimated 1100 with install.

is the mppk more reliable than jb1?

MPPK if you like warranty.
+ improved exhaust bubbles + engine noise, little power+ torque increase
1000$ is not a big deal, (here we pay 2600$ for the MPPK)

The JB is better if you want more power one day.

ECU tuning on top of MPPK is more expensive, but is better for your engine as the af ratio can be manipulated. (okay, consumption suffers a bit - not much).

I have MPPK somewhere in there...

yeah i think i am going to stick with the mppk. i believe my car is a pre 11/12 build so i guess i will be needing a new DME and I'm sure the dealership will have trouble as stated in many of the other threads about pre 11/12 build cars.

dinan looks good too, but cost is just too much for me

this is stated in Dinan's warranty. so basically, if something happens to the engine, only their tune is covered and nothing else? that seems kind of pointless doesn't it?

Jb stage 1 is cheaper, has more features, more flexibility and provides more power.
PPK keeps your warranty
if it was my car, i would get the Jb

MPPK because warranty and actual ECU flash. The airbox and engine cover are a joke though. Oh, and don't forget the Mperformance stickers.

The stickers are a joke too. They aren't even straight. I'm peeling mine off the skirts as soon as the weather warms up and putting a single one on the back.

Tuned shift characteristics for the 8At? It sounds me very strange, never heard about an improvement in shift speed with MPPK and BMW didn't advertise it in the official reports...

"All models receive a re-mapped accelerator pedal calibration for more dynamic throttle response, "

This is what I meant.

"...high-capacity engine air intake system.."

A joke? So using 1950's era oil filter is "better"?

Have you looked at the MPPK "intake"? Its a stock box with a hole cut in the side. It uses the stock filter, complete with carbon filter. Its good for nothing. Thats why 300 miles in, mine's already off the car.

The thread starter did not ask for this but your right. -And stickers for the kid's cars

By the way. for the price of the MPPK (in my far away country), I just got a brand new BW turbo modified + a 200 Cell race cat.
This is far more fun than MPPK torque/power but I would not live without it now that it's on.

Yes I have. I was just suggesting "a joke" was a bit harsh. After all does it really matter how some, however small, additional air is obtained?

Btw...On a side note I don't know what the difference is but the part no. for the air box and the air filter between M-sport and non M-sport cars appears to differ. EX. M-sport air filter is 13718616909 and non-M is 13717602643

Apparently the red hole does do something, according to this illustration provided by BMW.
