OEM 19" PSS Tyres

I'm up to 5000 miles on my M3 now and having checked the rear tyres, probably won't get much more than about 8,000 out of them the way I'm going

I'll probably stick with the same make and model when I come to change them, but it did make me wonder if any of you guys who've replaced their tyres have opted for something other than the Michelins (winter tyres and non-standard rims excluded)? If so, what did you put on and how are you finding them?

I haven't got to the stage where I have to change my tyres yet but I had Z4 before this and I tried Bridgestone F1 eagles which in my opinion were a lot better then OEM tyres. I will probably try them again on the M4

Wow 8k a set? You must be smoking them everywhere. I have almost 5k on mine and they are still looking pretty much new. I was thinking at least 20-25k before I I needed to think about new ones.

Thanks for the responses chaps. I have to admit that MDM mode is a little bit too addictive, hence the alarming rate of rear tyre wear. I just love the tail wagging you get on hard acceleration.
It's definitely a difficult choice to sway towards a different type of tyre once you've got used to the feel of a particular make. Although I did quite like the Continental Sport Contact 5 on my previous 335d.

Yeah same here, would cost me a fortune changing every 8k.

So are you literally wagging your tail around regularly most days?

I'm considering ditching my S001 rft's in favour of PSS's, but with you only getting 8k in a car with considerably less torque than mine is worrying!

I came from a remapped 335d with 700Nm of torque and the tyres (Conti 5's) lasted longer on that. The power delivery on the M3 is just way more aggressive and snappy than the oil burner. I am most days getting it wagging, but it's because I like to make it do it. I could get way more mileage out of them if I was actually sensible. Maybe the next set?
The other way of looking at it is, rather than stumping up for an MPE or other mods I'll put my budget towards new rubber...

Ok thanks, mines also running around 700nm, & only through the rear wheels! But i think they should last a lot longer with my driving habits!

Hi teaston , I think YD94 was also saying that he's using MDM mode mostly which allows a lot more leniency and slip of the tyres...hence the run rate !
