First post here- so hi!

i have a 320d e90, the other day i managed to press a button and it altered the temp on both dials by turning only one- does anyone know how you do this? as it is a useful feature!

Thanks in advance,

Very strange, so far as I know this can't be done. Are you sure?

This is one thing that is irritating me since I got the E90.

My last 2 cars had dual or separate operation.

"Press" on and let us all know how this undocumented feature works.

You'll make a lot of friends if you figure this one out.

It wouldn't have been this button, would it?

Welcome to the forum by the way.

I must be missing something here - why would you want to do this?

Perhaps I'm a bit strange, but I set the temperature controls to 19.0 C on both sides when I got the car just over a year ago, and they have stayed on that setting ever since. I thought the whole point of climate control was that the system works automatically and you don't have to judge the temperature and adjust the heat/cooling yourself...

yes, but you might want to increase the temp from 19 or drop it... depending on what your preference is.

The whole point of 2 controls, is so passenger side can have a different temperature. However, sometimes the driver just wants to adjust the whole car, not just their side. In Audi/VW you can press and hold the temp (hot or cold) button and both sides set to whatever the drivers side is. This cannot be done on BMW.

It is irritating when a weekend with the family means I have 22C an 19C then to set it back I have to change both.

Or if the passengers are in the back and want it warmer than 19, I have to turn both knobs and count the clicks or look down to check they are both changed to same.

Alternatively you can use the rubber-band (black looks the most classy) method to link the two controls (I can't remember who originally suggested this ingenious plan)

That's what I thought, but I still can't figure out why they've put a manual temperature control wheel in the middle of the center air vents. The climate settings don't see to have any control over this vent.

It's meant to be like that. That it a little part you can control manually - so you can have a little cool air while the rest of the system is blasting hot air, or vice versa - whatever suits. It is explained in the manual

The system seems to be identical in the way it functions to the nine year old Rover 75 design - down to the way the centre vents operate.
