Do those tires look wacky? I see a strange circumference ridge where the tread meets the shoulder.

nice find.

It's funny, the woman that took the pic didn't realize what she was seeing, she thought it was a funky paint job

Is that even an M2? Looks like an old mule for a 228i or something. Not seeing any dual exhausts, yet alone quad pipes.

If you look you can make out the fender flares, but the camo does it's job of hiding the contours pretty well.

A lot of manufacturers test here, but I don't know why. I see camo cars now and then. Can only guess anything from testing engine tunes to ride quality.

The 2 series naturally already has flares:

BMW has a testing facility out in Oxnard:
http://www.bmwgroup.com/e/0_0_www_bm...geneering.html

Also use it as a base for testing out in Death Valley if I'm not mistaken

True but you don't need to have the car physically there to test or ensure emissions compliance.

Don' know....that pic and the location still fishy but who knows??

Didn't know that (the Oxnard info), thanks! Close enough to L.A. so I'll take back my potentially uninformed reply to ScottSinger. If it is the M2, not fair running it around the US with just a few more days to go before Detroit....where it WON'T but SHOULD be!

That I don't know. But it's just odd to me that you can't see any exhaust tips. If it was even the oldest mule, it should at least have single pipes on both sides. Otherwise, it would have quads, which I don't see. Not to mention the wheels look like they are off a base car, rather than wheels from the M3/4.

Between the picture being taken on a crappy phone, it being dark out, and the car having camo, it's definitely possible that we just can't really see the flares. I really do think that this is a false alarm. But even if it isn't, this tells us absolutely nothing new unfortunately

I don't think that's an M2, maybe a 2er LCI??

Even the very first M2 prototypes were far more beefy than this.

We need Adam1534 to see through the camo again and tell us what's really going on

I'd be okay with being labeled as a camo analyzer lol.

As soon as more shots come in, I'll be staring at them for a long time as I'm sure others will too. I hope that happens soon!

Until then... we must wait

What's with the raised area above the rear glass? Looks like an aftermarket roof spoiler.

I thought the same thing - perhaps they're covering up some roof vanes or something. But then I boosted the exposure on the back roof, wheels, rear valence and interior, and zoomed in a little bit:

I think the roof line is normal and what appears to be a raised section is just trickery from the camo. If you follow the roofline across to the area right above the CHMSL, you can see the slope of the roof is smooth, where an upgraded roof spoiler would be pronounced.

A single exit exhaust is clear with the exposure turned up, but there's too much noise in the original photo to see whether there is a second tip in the area where the road lightens.

The wheels on the car prevent any sort of view of the brake calipers.

Seems to be standard monitoring equipment inside the car. And the dude driving appears to be on his phone.

I agree,we need to see some new pics that show us more of what the final design is going to look like.
