Affordable Taiwanese ABS rear spoiler in MG (B39)

After reviewing all the pictures and searching e-bay I decided a spoiler from Spec-M. They all looked the same to me and the ads stated pretty much the same thing. I ordered from them since it was about the same price as the others ($138), was free shipping, had my color in stock, had the shortest ship time and the ad stated it ships from the United States well guess what......it doesn't. It shipped direct from Taiwan.

Anyway not only did it ship quick, it got here fast and arrived one day before the estimated delivery date. It shipped out on 1/04 and was delivered today 1/07. It was packed very well. Here are some preliminary pics of it. I might try to install it this weekend but the paint finish looks good in the house light. and I didn't see any blemishes yet. I will post more pics when it is installed....

Comparing the box I received mine in from JB and the actual spoiler pictures you provided I believe they are the same. Like to see the fitment if the radius is slightly off.

YEP. Sure you are capable, I taped up the car with painters tape in front and back of the stock spoiler and used some dental tape we had to saw through the stock spoiler adhesive and it came right off.

Ok so I installed it yesterday, the car needs a wash but it was 30deg and it was tough enough doing the install outside I was not about too wash the damn car. Finish is nice but I need a sunny day to compare the color match. My Taiwanese knock off spoiler fit just like RDKing2's...and like i said in his post I think they are selling the F30 as a F22 that is why it fits the way it does. I remember when e46m3lol put one on his F22 and mine fits exactly the was his did so I am calling it. So be advised when ordering. I am happy with it at $138 painted and shipped. Here are some pics

Looks exactly like the one I got from JB. Roll of tape and all.

Did you heat the spoiler up before prying it off?

No need for heat, do not recommend prying anything. Just tape it up like in the pics and use a piece of dental floss/tape in a sawing motion along the spoiler. I held the dental tape slightly up towards the spoiler. I had a helper, he slightly lifted the spoiler as I went down it and kept the spoiler from getting away from me at the end. The fun part is removing the left over adhesive tape. Good luck

I tried both and no heat worked the best. It not only cut better with the floss but the adhesive rolled off easier cold. Oh it also was 38deg outside when I did it. Now i did warm the trunk lid a bit before attaching it just in case.

so you're saying that a f30 spoiler will also fit on our f22 with very little fitment issue?

Ehagerty is saying that he believes that the spoiler being sold is an f30 spoiler. Due to the incorrect curvature, I think it is more likely than the spoiler being made incorrectly.

Kind of yes.......I was referring to another post by e46m3lol who actually got a F30 spoiler and tried it on the F22 back on 7/28/14 and mine fits exactly like his in the corners. I was just making a observation not accusing the seller of anything at this point. I believe that quite possibly the trunks are very similar and maybe the spoilers can fit both applications? I do not have a F30 available to try it on. You can see the thread below

I hadn't thought about this until you mentioned it, but you may be right. I got the 2 Series BMW OEM CF spoiler before my car arrived. At the time I was driving a 328 loaner. I laid the 2 Series spoiler on the 328 trunk lid and it came close to fitting but the curvature was a little off in the opposite direction of what I'm seeing in the pictures here. That is, the curvature of the trunk lid on the 2 Series seems to be less pronounced than it is on the 3 Series. So, it's entirely possible that instead of making a new product for the 2 Series the Chinese companies are just saying that the one they have already (the 328 spoiler) will fit the 2 Series. I wouldn't put it past them. By doing this they save the development costs and increase the size of the market for their existing product. As I've said in a previous posting the BMW OEM part fits the 2 Series perfectly. I've posted pictures in the other spoiler thread here.

I would experiment by buying an F30 spoiler from someplace you know will take it back, maybe even a BMW dealer, just to confirm that the fit on the 2 Series is what you're seeing in the pics here.

Yea and I think the ones they are selling for the F22 are a higher price due to being a new product.......so maybe I got a "lil snookered. It is painted and on so it is staying there
