255 35 19 tyres?

Anyone using the above size tyres on standard M Sport 19" MV4 9j alloys? I've had 4 blowouts on the rear with 30 profile tyres and I'm thinking a swap to 35s might help, will they fit without rubbing?

That's over an inch bigger in diameter. That's too big a difference in my opinion.

If you are having blowouts and not wrecking the wheel, I don't imagine the tyre will make any difference.

Four blowouts is a lot.

Tell me about it mate, the tyres all seem to go the same way with a cut on the inside but there's definitely nothing rubbing or hitting and it's happened both sides on new wheels and old. Latest one happened joining the motorway last night. It seems the only tyre I can rely on is my space saver, not a good look though.

There has to be something in it that is causing the same issue.

I've managed to ruin a few tyres over the tyres, two on the BMW. I've hit a sunken manhole cover(2.5" deep) and a huge pothole on the A90. Both ended up putting bulges in the sidewall of the tyres and one put a flat spot on the wheel.

The first tyre was a runflat too.

Never actually had a full on blow out. I've had the bulges in the sidewall with the BMW, a tyre completely losing shape and huge cracks inside the beading with previous cars.

My E93 came with them and I'm actually still running a 255/35 rear with a 235/35 front. Will be replacing soon with a 265/30 rear.

But don't seem to be having any issues. No warning lights, stored codes, done two track sessions with them on. And they do have a softer ride then the 30s but look a bit chunky.

I have them on standard M225 wheels.

What brand of tyres are you using? Has all 4 blow outs been with the same brand?

All Conti Sport 5, I've replaced the previous one with a Falken 453 which seems to be holding up well with another on order now and I'm going to make a point of checking pressures regularly as I'm not so sure the sensors are working, it's difficult to tell if these 30s are low on air by sight as they're so thin. My thinking is that the tyres have needed air, I haven't noticed and the sidewalls are being damaged. Personally I'm starting to wonder if these 30 profiles are just a bit too harsh for the roads I travel

I have a pair of contis. Think they are 5ps. They have at least 5mm tread. You could but these off me to try if you wanted.
