CCBs

Congrats to those who have spec'd this option, universally praised by all reviewers. I'm jealous of your lack of brake dust too.

However I'm not thinking that gold callipers is not the sportiest colour BMW could have picked? Surely a bright Red or the Orange from the M Perf kit looks a bit better with most BMW M colours?

I don't think it's just Bmw I think Porsche also uses gold for ccb.

I guess you can always change the color but gold looks pretty good imo.

Not that it is any better, but PCCBs are bright yellow, not gold. I got a 1/2" thick gold chain to wear when I take the car out matching the calipers for Christmas. I now have to find a gold M medallion to complete the picture. it is a silly color.

On the contrary, I think they look brilliant in gold Just a shame I could never bring myself to spend £6k on brakes.

I think the gold looks great. Not that I'm going to fork out that much money for brakes.

Really wish I had the CCB, bought my car off the floor though so it wasn't spec'd with them by the dealer.

As much as those brakes cost, you should be able to select between a few colors. I am not planning on getting CCBs, and if I did the gold color wouldn't stop me, but its not a color I would have picked.

Me to. The steel stockers are underwhelming

Still puzzled why BMW didn't make the steels 6/4 pot. No idea what the reason is. They are not good at all

Not sure where this is coming from

The stock brakes are very good and hold up exceptionally well to hard track use. They need a pad and fluid swap but that is it and that is standard for any non-CCB system. The main advantage of the CCB setup is not needing to swap pads, etc before track days and less dust. Braking force is similar with stock brakes and heat handling abilities can be similar with track pads. I think this has pretty clearly been discussed . I'm not suggesting the CCB aren't worth it but I am suggesting the steel stock brakes are MUCH better than you suggest.

In any event, lots of folks here have tracked the car on steel brakes (with pads) and have reported great results. Me included. I think your comments above are unwarranted and not quite accurate

Keen to try and improve them. Pls let me know what pads to change to. I'm just talking from experience on road. The brakes feel like they don't bite properly and the braking distance is not acceptable, quite scary when you need to stop in a hurry.

I would get your brakes checked because that doesn't sound right... the M brakes have been getting good reviews and should stop the car the same as the CCB. Braking distance on the M4 for me has been very similar to the C7 Corvette so to hear you say braking distance isn't acceptable suggests something is wrong. Unless you and I have very different expectations of the brakes

As @gthal is saying, something must be wrong with your brakes. The stock iron setup works very well. During my first track event, I did not have time to swap the pads, so I ran them completely stock. They performed surprisingly well for a completely stock setup with very good and consistent braking distances. I suffered no fade and very little pad deposit. Naturally, the brakes have been flawless on the street.

I got the CCBs on my F80. On other cars, I have no problem changing the caliper colors and I wouldn't hesitate to change the color on these too. However, I think the gold looks nice. It really isn't a bling bling gold. It's a subtle gold color. I think it gives a nice contrast to whatever exterior color you choose.

I'm a fan of the gold. I feel that it works against all the colors available especially on AY (but I'm a little biased on that )

Fair enough, most seem to like the gold, I guess I just have no other gold anywhere in my life, more of a silver, platinum liker.
