6FL retrofit - Is this correct?

I have a 01/2007 build 335i which already has:
  • S609A Professional Navigation System
  • S612A BMW Assist
  • S616A BMW Online
  • S620A Voice control
  • S633A Preparation, mobile phone, Business
  • S672A CD changer for 6 CDs
  • S676A HiFi speaker system
  • S601A TV function

I am trying to add USB function in the console to play music - at present it is only AUX-In.

From what I understand, due to my car built before 03/2007, I need MULF2 High unit + USB cable/hub.

Is this correct?

If I already have bluetooth phone calls, does this mean my car was equipped with MULF2 already?
Or is it that because my car is pre-03/2007 I do not have MULF2?

I wanted to do this retrofit to my car as well. But I settled for a BT receiver and I just stream from my phone. I think I'd still do this at some time in the future though.

Okay, so I have discovered I only have MULF not MULF2.

From what I can gather, I need to buy a MULF2, a USB/AUX socket, and a cable (or make a cable).

The MULF2 unit is $477 from ECS... fark.

Bmw makes 6FL retrofit kit.
If you ask your dealer, it will make your life easier.
Also, you can buy used mulf2 high but you will have to flash it with icom to write the vin of your car and then it will connect to your car.
Not sure about BNIB but that will require VIN written to it before it communicate with CCC.
Done it on few cars except we did not bother to run aux-in wires.

Thanks! I've got INPA and NCS expert (NCS Dummy) so I might try coding a second hand unit.

I found another thread from 2013 with yourself in it where it was mentioned a way to use existing AUX-In cable, but program it to receive from head unit instead.

I have tried coding it directly to HU but that did not work.
Also, with apple stuff, you will require Y c able.
Which sends the commands digitally but transmits the sound over analogue.
So if you leave the aux-in to the front, Y cable will not work.

Not true. WinKFP will allow you change VIN of any module.

I thought that NCSexpert would work on the pre 09

I thought that NCSexpert with the OBD cable would work on the 09 and pre 09
cars without the ICOM Head for everything.

MULF2 unit will only Bluetooth Connectivity for phone call and USB ONLY!.. For Bluetooth streaming you will need cic system and combox (a good upgrade if you'd like). You currently have the older gen CCC system with a TCU module. supports for basic voice controls and BMW Assist.
