M3 steering on non-sport E90

Ive got a non-sport E90 and want to get the M3 steering. Already know that you need a bracket, airbag and the steering itself. Only been able to find the steering and airbag for about 600 euros on ebay. Any cheaper tips?

Wanted to ask has anyone been able to install it on a non-sport E90 and was it too hard? It would be my first DIY on the car.

It won't fit a non sport e90
600 euros ($888) is a great deal actually. Airbags are expensive.

Sure it should fit. You just need all new parts (airbag, bracket, faceplate).

Yep it will fit, but you need everything - might be cheaper to get an entire sport wheel and then the M wheel so you have everything out of the sport wheel you need if you can find one at a breakers!

Any ideas how hard the installation is?

Well it will fit. I have a lease you thinking spending that much on it is worth it? I mean would I be able to sell the steering when I turn the car in?

I just placed my order for the M-tech wheel (perforated leather - not the tri color stitch) and ancillary parts from Tischer BMW. The biggest hurdle is the airbag and they can now ship that.

http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...catalogid=4462

Their price is on par with the ebay guy and I'll sleep a little better knowing that my airbag is not from ebay.

Also, I've confirmed with Evan that the steering wheel comes with the bracket.

Below is an illustration of what you'll need to complete the retrofit . . .

And here are the parts I ordered . . .

Items Ordered:
- Item (4) BMW OEM E90/E92 Sport & M Sports Steering Wheel Airbag Module

- Item (1): BMW E90/91/92/93 3 Series 'M' Sports Perforated Leather Steering Wheel

- Item (5) Steering wheel, Steering wheel and trim, Harness, Harness - W/sport package - W/sport package

- Item (3) Steering wheel, Steering wheel and trim, Switch assy, W/o navigation, W/o navigation - W/sport package - W/sport package

- Item (2) Steering wheel, Steering wheel and trim, Inner cover, W/multi-function, Leather - W/sport package - W/sport package

Wat do you plan on doing with your old steering and airbag? You think someone would want it?

It's going to look mighty fine on my kids' playset

Actually, I'm in a lease and will likely reinstall it / sell the M-tech stuff upon termination.

Good luck.

I meant that I won't fit on non-sport airbag and cover. Good look out

Just did the install myself. The various DIYs are awesome and it only took about 20 minutes.

I'm happy to walk you through it if you have any problems.

Just note that:

Item (5) Steering wheel, Steering wheel and trim, Harness, Harness - W/sport package - W/sport package

came with the steering wheel that I purchased from Tischer so I did not need that part. It was only $20 though.

Good luck!
