scratch upon delivery

hey guys, i got my car about 2 months ago.. i love this car! however, it had a couple scratches upon delivery, so i was finally able to take it to the dealership for a looksie.

the morons actually tried to "scratch out" the scratch, even though the primer is showing. it looked like they rubbed sandpaper all over the damn thing, and as a result i got the car back with hundreds of new scratches on the clearcoat!! did this happen to any of you guys? i swear, service people at dealerships are such idiots!! oh, and sorry if

I would just live with the scratch instead of having the dealer try to "fix" it.

Couldn't you just not accept the car? or you didn't notice it till later? Just curious to see if the same situation happens to me, I would like them to fix it perfectlly, too anal about scratches or dents on any car. Wouldn't mind waiting..

I guess the boys in Texas don't know what to do with the new fangled foreign cars. I guess the technique that works for their pickup trucks didn't work for your car.

Accept nothing less than perfection!!! Demand a BMW certified body shop do a repaint of the entire area.

FWIW, you should always do a very thorough inspection at delivery - with your CA - and note any thing such as this. Too easy for the dealer to claim it happened after you drove away.

Also, don't take delivery in the evening without making them pull it inside under lights so you can inspect it. I took delivery of a G35 Coupe when it was dark out only to get home and find it already had a door knick. Thank God for Dent Doctor. It came out perfect with no painting necessary and they paid the bill.

hey guys, thanks for the advice and questions..

on the day it was delivered, i was coming home from college, so my parents wanted it in the garage to surprise me.. therefore, there was probably no inspection, and it was night time. i didn't notice the scratch then.

they are OK with getting the thing fixed, the only problem was the fact that they scratched it to hell when i put it in!! it was so aggravating. kyle, please do a thorough inspection, it is worth it!

Get it fixed and have them pay the bill. That's it that's all.

jeez, when I took delivery there was a small (1") scratch on my fuel filler door. I still took the car, but pointed it out to my CA, brought it back a few days later and they fixed it good as new.

It sounds like you just need a good detail.
