330i Keyed... kind of bummed...
I was at home with the girl.... she wanted me to go to the store to pick sometin up for our 7 month old baby....so she kicked me off the couch and i took my 330i daily driver to go get some milk.... i go to safeway and pick up some snacks too ... my girl really likes ice cream even though its cold as shit... i picked up some other food too for me....
anyway... i probably spend 20 minutes in the store... line is mad long and lady can't figure out how to get my check card to work on her busted machine... so i just say f*ck it i'll pay cash.... finally get out of the store... walk to my 330i ... and notice i got a 5 foot scratch down the side of my passenger side door.... i only had a cell phone with a 2 megapixel cam so i tried to take a good shot for evidence purposes... they basically took their key or screw driver... and ran it down both my doors on the passenger side..... man i'm pissed.... i look around and no one is there... no witnesses... no one... empty as fuck... except a few cars kind of far away.... they went across both my doors so i cant just replace one door panel.... these people were professional haters man.... right then i'm pissed cause i remembered some ugly ass caddy parked close to my car on the passenger side like 10 seconds after i parked ...and now it was gone... why would someone scratch up my car and then jsut bounce like that? ... makes no damn sense man... do you guys think he followed me?? anyway i'm bummed right now cause this is my daily driver car....she was a beauty too.... it looks badly scratched.... i guess i'll drive my 335i to work now... but i'm paranoid it'll get scratch tooo......man why did i like bmw... i'm thinking of just buying beater cars from now on so i don't really give a shit if someone keys me anymore.... |

call me paranoid, but i never park to shady cars (and there is a large variety of cars that go into this range)
-rice -anything from the 80's -SUVs -elderly drivers (past 65) -punks in big ass cars (caddies, buicks) and the list goes on...

i guess not everything is bad... but i feel like crap still... but i guess i just have to remember its just a car... i have a beautiful baby daughter and a loving wife... and a good BBQ business in a nice part of town.... so i'm just tryin to keep things real and in perspective.... still i wish people had better souls than that... |

yeah i feel that way too... thing is i was raised in the south... and down there its like a warzone in some places... but those are the people i was raised with and sometimes i don't want to judge them because of how they look or what whip they drive... but this experience definitely makes me look at people under a different lens... i am definitely less trusting of people now...

Sorry to hear that man.
Remember it's just a car and by the sound of it, everything else in your life is pretty much perfect. Just have to keep things in perspective. |

You bring up a good point--haters. There's nothing we can do about them, just be happy you have a girl, a baby, etc. Probably the hater has nothing.
Also, thank goodness it was your beater, even though your beater is nice. I was driving mine today and I ran over debris, no kidding, in my Nissan. I look at the front later and the spoiler (OEM so it's not low or anything) is black on a white car and scratched up. I'm glad it wasn't the BMW. No joke, I'd do an instant replay of your trip to the convenience store to see if any lurkers come out and try the same monkey business. Good luck. |

I agree that you should have a less luxurious daily driver too. Getting a $12,000 Nissan scratched is a lot less infuriating than getting a $35,000 BMW scratched.

well i talked to a body shop and they said they could do the door paint and repair for $670... so i guess i'll go through my insurance instead....
...funny thing is i found another key mark the idiot did on my back bumper when the sun came up.... its like he thought about just doing the bumper then just decided to do both my doors on the passenger side... |

I wouldn't file a claim on a $500 deductable unless the costs were over $1,000 at least, probably more like $1500. Sure you may save $170 doing it that route, but you could potentially end up paying more than that over time. Not worth the risk... |

Tough luck man ... I don't understand people sometimes. Also, I agree that for $170 difference from your deductible, I wouldn't file a claim, unless you're going to need a loaner car (and you have reimbursement).

Just remember, haters are the way they are because they have nothing. The guy probably drove his messed up Caddy to the store and saw you with your nice Bimmer and became envious at how good your life is. We should feel sorry for that person, and just remember, karma is a bitch. |

sucks man sorry to hear.... yeah you have to be careful in this town. tons of haters out there. a girl tried to key my escalade a few months ago. swirl marks around the entire vehicle. luckily she was too stupid to actually press through the paint, so it pretty much buffed out, lucky me!... anyways sorry to hear. park your s*** as far out as possible!

I don't have a BMW, but MAN, it sure makes me VERY nervous about owning one.
I almost would just want to leave it keyed so that it won't get keyed again. I just don't think someone would key a car that's already been keyed!!! |

There you are wrong. What that 35k BMW is to you, that 12k Nissan is to someone else. People can take equal pride in a lesser vehicle. The same goes for other possessions too.
