timeline for official info? Specs, price etc...

When do we get official specific specs on this car along with pricing? Im going crazy with the wait for information. Im #1 on my dealers list for it (which is weird to me as I've never been #1 for any list), but Im also very interestingly watching and waiting for official information and specs on the new Shelby GT350 mustang. I cant believe Im saying that but for the first time Im actually really digging a mustang...

But besides that, I've read almost every thread here and every snippet of info. Looking doubtful that we'll have a concept version of the M2 at Detroit, but it has been typical of BMW to roll out a 95% complete "concept" version of the M cars and then the production model a few months later. I'd just love to see some details as Im sure you all are as well. What does it look like, how much power does it have, whats the weight, etc....

According to "insider" Scott26, we will see the concept M2 at Frankfurt, Sept. 2015. From that I infer that we will get the production M2 launched at Detroit NAIAS, January 2016. My guess is specs will be released sometime in the Fall of 2015, after Frankfurt.

Like others have said. We're a long time away from anything official. I don't think BMW has even finished designing the car themselves.

But I'm anxiously awaiting more info just like you.

Latest issue of Roundel floats the possibility of a reveal in Detroit, next month. Now that would be some much needed red meat to keep us all excited.

that would be good because Cayman and 911 are raking in BMW enthusiasts as far as I can tell from attending P hpde events

Maybe so, but I think BMW has an ace up their cards with the M2. Personally, I don't care how long it takes because there's nothing you can get with Porsche in the price range that I'm looking for.

A low optioned Cayman S that I'd want is $70k something, and I don't even bother with trying to build a 911 online.

Just my particular situation, but I'm hoping the M2 comes out to $55k max with the option I want (not much).

My dealer, who knows as little as everyone else, said expectations are Q2 2016 delivery.

Everyone who has wanted to put money down has walked out the door with a 235i instead. Lol.

Have you had a chance to drive an M235i by any chance? If you haven't, that should give you a really good idea of what to expect the M2, especially if you also get to drive an M3/4 too.

That's what made me excited about that car. I don't see how BMW can make it worst because I quite enjoyed the M235i (and it was an automatic too...), and they'll be adding some frankly awesome parts from the M3/4. It's one of those situations where it's almost impossible for them to screw up.

I'm not on any list myself. Going to wait and see and hope for the best.

If you don't have to have one as soon as they come out, I think you will be fine on that front.

No did not drive 235 or new M3. I saw a couple 235 on the road and wasn't too excited from the exterior design point of view. Hope m2 adds some width and better design overall.

I'm purposely NOT driving one due to this. Same with the M3 as I bet by the time the M2 is out the M3 will have enough discounts to get it close to an M2.

I don't think I do. On one hand, I really would love to be part of the mass ED, which would pretty much be the only reason I'd have to have it early.

On the other hand, I wouldn't mind waiting a year to see the bugs worked out, not to mention being able to get it cheaper than if I had pulled the trigger right out of the gate

I think they look pretty good. But if anything, I was more interested in how they drove, which I also thought was pretty good. My favorite part was the size though. Since you and I are both coming from E9x's, the 2er platform was refreshingly smaller.

At least a test drive might give you a taste of things to come. I wouldn't be able to wait 2 years for the M2 if I had 0 idea how the 2er drives in general, I'd really go crazy

The size is great! To be honest I am afraid of being disappointed how heavy it is. I have no desire to drive a 2 series above 3200 lbs. There is no point. I hope M2 has a track option to delete luxury features and make it as simple and driver focused as possible. I am hoping to be able to fit 305r and 275f rubber, or larger, not stock but with room to fit them. Should be interesting.

Let's hope.

Keen to see the aggressive concept and the new tech to be featured on this car.
