When you want to get the latest progman update? Do you just ask the dealer to update it?

Beg, plead, steal, plunder, pillage, or pay.
Just remember that it costs the dealer $ to update anything, so you'll have to have a good reason other then I just want the newest software...look up what type of upgrades it has and then say your car is "not working properly" in regards to some of those updated issues.

Any idea on what kind of "problem" to report will get you the upgrade?

I got mine updated few months ago by saying that the Arrow pop up for Nav was not working which was a common issue. You need to have some sort of reason to get an update and don't get it if everything is working.

The dealer charging the factory or vice versa has nothing to do with you as a consumer. As another member said, you have to find known issues that were fixed in the newest update and indicate that those issues are affecting you. Only then will they go ahead and give you that update.

I had them update my software to fix the 6FL issue and it seems to have done just that. You may want to look into the software upgrade and see if there is a fix for something you have an issue with. You are also more than welcome to get an upgrade for increased functionality. The latest seems to have sped up the menu display and the images for the navigation have changed for the better IMHO.

I've had two upgrades as a result of my iDrive going TU.

Don't be surprised if the dealer wants to "reproduce" whatever complaint you have before updating. They wouldn't upgrade when I told them about the 6FL problem, because it didn't happen to them.

I guess every dealership is different, I'm shocked but not surprised because I assume it does cost them to do the upgrade. My dealer asked no question but: "when can you get it in here for the software upgrade?". With the 6FL problem, it may use a lot of gas to get it to duplicate

I assume a brand new car comes with the latest software.
When I get mine how can I tell what date/version of software I have (It will not have iDrive)? How often does BMW typically update the software? |

My dealership "couldn't reproduce" the issues I had (bad voice recognition and mp3 skipping), so I gave in and paid their labor fee.
The upgrade was well-worth the price ($120), IMO.

Yeah, how can I tell if I have the latest or not? My car should be ready for delivery on Tuesday or Wednesday.
Thanks |
