Lamp malfunction error!

Has anyone recieved the the following error message on their car?
"Right Turn Signal lamp malufunction." For some reason as I'm merging from one autobahn to the next (ie. 40mph making a sharp right turn) my error light comes on in the exact same location every morning. It eventually goes off further down the road. I have taken it to BMW and they seem unable to locate the problem. They can identify when the error occurred as the computer keeps a log of it, but that's it. They have replaced the entire right side headlamp assembly and still the same error. I would love to know if this has happened to anyone else, and if so, what was the solution. From what BMW has told me now, they are ordering a whole new computer.

i had the same problem. along with SOS failure, rear brake light failure, and cruise control failure. the reinstalled the latest software (resetting my iDrive setting darn it), changed a bunch of light bulbs and housings and I haven't seen it again (that was 2 days ago). I won't bore with their "solutions" to the other problems i mentioned.

+1 rear left brake light malfunction and SOS system malfunction messages.

I get the rear left brake light malfunction all the freaking time too. Ofcourse nothing wrong with the light. I think its an I-Drive problem.

I just got my car back b/c of the rear brake light malfunctions. The warranty work stated that:

"Found bad connection at housing socket for both sides. Contacts had stretched out leaving bulbs lose. Replaced both defective bulbs and both housings"

bring your car in for a checkup

they would change a whole new computer just for that?

i always get a "left front turn signal light malfunction" when i'm making this left turn on this certain road. that light comes on 90% of the time when i'm there, and never elsewhere. it doesn't bother me much, so i just leave it as is.

MMakato, that is the same exact problem I have only making a right hand turn, just like you, at a specific location. Normally, I would probably deal with it just like you, but when I'm paying 40+ thousand on a car, I want it to work like it should. Otherwise I should have paid half that and got a reliable Honda.

Ok, bear with me, I was dealing with German, and my German while good is not perfect. Apparently they first replaced all the "bulbs" on the right hand side (no effect). Just recently they replaced the entire right headlight unit. So far it appears to be working, at least the last two days it has. Will let you know later if it is permanent. MMakoto, I paid too much to simply ignore the problem, LOL!

Well it's back to the dealer. I told them this time to simply have a loaner ready for me and keep the car until it is fixed. This problem is becoming quite a pain in the ass.

I was getting those errors occasionally at random times, and it was fixed with just a software update.

Might not be the same as yours though.

Garage List
"Right Turn Signal lamp malufunction." When I got my car back from BMW and they updated the software to 30.1 and ever since I've got 2 of those messages. Really annoying to fix one thing and get another prob. Heard it was a bug by BMW and that they have a fix for it. Do they have an update for it?
