328 sedan feels quicker than 328 coupe, or am i retarded?
so i got a 328 loaner car today... (sedan) has 7000 miles on the odometer... i have a 328 (coupe) with 11000 miles on the odometer... when i punch the gas in regular D in the loaner car (sedan) it just gets up and goes, with my coupe, sometimes there's a lag as it decides to downshift...
regardless, i swear it feels like the sedan is quicker, even without the whole lag on the coupe... i've got sports package and 18" rft's, the sedan has probably 17" rft's... am i smoking crack or do i need to do a tranny reset and maybe have the car learn my driving habits again?? |

not sure if the 328 uses a similar 'learning' step box as the 335, but the transmission learns from your driving patterns and is aggressive or laidback depending on your driving style the first 1000 miles or so then it locks down. You can reset it and it should be snappier--search the forums on how to do it.
i don't like this as the owner's manual says to not drive aggressively the first 1000 miles, so if you follow their instructions, then it will never be on the aggressive map. i tried the 'reset' but now sure if it worked, but i keep switching to DS if i want spirited driving, or leave on D otherwise for granny style shifting lol... |

hmmm, maybe i'll place a call to the dealership in the morning and ask them to reset the tranny, and i can start driving it like i normally do...
you figure the loaner car has been used and abused from day one, hence the feeling faster bit, lol... |

Drive in DS mode, and you won't have to worry about D mode "learning your habits." In DS mode, all bets are off, shift, floor it, whatever. Just remember you're burning more fuel, but that shouldn't really be a problem if you're driving a $40,000 car.

yes yes, we all know about DS mode... but for the times we're stuck in southern california traffic (i.e los angeles) and have it in D, when we punch the gas to get out of a sticky situation or have a slight case of road rage and want to get past someone, we don't want the lag...

Everything else being equal, smaller wheels should produce slightly faster acceleration at low speeds.

+1. In terms of pure performance I think 17'' is considered the best for the E9x. Anything over is less about performance and more about style. That still hasn't stopped me from ordering 18'' CSLs.
