CA Option - To Get or Not?

I am ordering a 335xi sedan and I am wondering what the advantages CA provides. I understand how it works but is it that much more convenient especially given some of the posters here who have had intermittent problems with CA.

I love keeping my keys in my pocket. My wife never takes hers out of her purse, it's actually clipped inside. The only time I take out my key is if I know others are waiting to get in the car and I'm not there yet.

I locked the keys in the car once at a carwash(yes that's suppose to be impossible) and I still love it. That's the only glitch in 1 year of ownership.

I have it and love it. Never had any glitches with it. Works flawlessly. GET IT!

...and plus if you're ever being chased by a murder or a killer like in the movies, you won't have to fumble around trying to get your keys out... they always die trying to start their car, which of course isn't too impossible with our cars as your Fuel Pump will probably fail.

Ditto, just get it unless you're keeping your car bare bones. It's something that should be included with all BMW's, but what the heck, since it's not, it's worth the extra $$$.

Personally, I think it's very cool that it uses inductive wiring I think is the term for it, in the door handle. Even a Lexus LS460 has a button the driver has to push on the door handle, as does the Altima. For once the Germans out-thought the Japanese and made something simplier and more user friendly.

CA is awesome!!!! You can't realistically add it after you get your car and for $500 (1% of a 50,000 car) it's money well spent. What I love most about CA is not having to reach around the steering wheel to place your key in the ignition. I have 35 % tint and ZERO problems with my CA.

Everyone who has it will tell you that you're a worthless moron and your car is a pile of scrap if you don't have it - so you'd better get it.

i first thought it was a waste of $500. then i really regretted not getting it. now i ordered my new car *without* it.

the reason why i went back to thinking it's a waste of $500, after i test drove a car that had it installed i simply couldn't convince myself that touching the handle to lock/unlock or not pulling out the FOB out of my pocket is worth hundreds of dollars.

the only REAL use case i can think of is when you have bags full of groceries coming out of a store, you don't have to juggle the bags to get your keys out. other than that, i think it's completely useless.

You'd still have to juggle the bags to open the door or trunk though. CA would be even better if it automagically opened the correct door (or trunk) you need via telepathy instead of just unlocking the doors.

Get it! Seriously, that's 10 tanks of gas. Think about it, you'd be happy in the end, and curious as to what if if you didn't. It's also a great thing to show to your friends. Best part is just leaving it in your pocket. You'll realize how beneficial this is when you have it.

+1 If you don't get this option you are a worthless moron. Oh, and your car is a pile of scrap. You definitely don't want us thinking the same of you as we think of LEDZEP, so you'd better get it.

FWIW - 17K miles and the only problems I've had are when I leave my keys in the house by accident. I walk up, grab the door handle, and... nothing. I try again and again, thinking my damn CA is acting up. Then I realize I don't have the keys. This has happened 3 or 4 times now. You'd think I would learn.

As five trillion magazines have pointed out, the engine start/stop button makes absolutely no sense when a fob has to be inserted into the dash, and then a button pressed. All that to start the motor. Even the Nissan Altima 4 cyl. has a system that makes more sense than that. That wasn't well thought out. CA corrects it, yes, for $500. As most of us agree, it should be standard, not $500. But it's a 41k+ car, so it's kind of nice to spend $500 to eliminate something that doesn't make sense. I consider a lot of things a waste of money, but not CA....
