insurance question

I hit a another parked vehicle and scraped the paint off his front bumper (he wants to fix his paint chip at the dealer). The individual is asking for 480 dollars and to fix the paint/dent on my car i am being quoted 500 dollars. Ive never been in a accident before so I had a few questions about claiming via auto insurance. If i have a 100 dollar deductible is it better to pay out of pocket? My insurance agent wont tell me how much my policy will increase or if they forgive claims up to a certai dollar amount because its the weekend..

Just pay out of pocket it's not worth spiking your insurance and giving insurance companies another reason to raise others rates.
Every time you use your insurance for a claim you become a statistic for them and ultimately that information is used to calculate risk.....so if no risk is present your driving profile enjoys better rates as well as everyone else in a similar demographic.

Def pay out of pocket for this one, it will effect your insurance prices greatly having an at fault accident, not to mention you still have to pay your deductible.

I agree. I assume you are accepting fault. In that case, at minimum, pay for the other guy's paint job out of pocket. You can always get yours fixed later, if you don't want to/can't pay for it now. Insurance companies are evil. They obviously have a great business model, if you've ever seen their headquarter buildings... I think of them as a necessity, but only make claims when they are very major. They'll drop you like a hot potato if they think you are a risk.
