Can the car be turned off while in motion? I have never had the balls to try it out.
If so, this is very scary. Say someone turns off the car while driving, wouldn't turning off the car cut power out to the brakes and steering? Even then, you can start the car back up till the selector is back in " P " ? But to shift into P you have to come to a complete stop. This just doesn't sound good.

I have turned off the car in D accidentally before, when not moving.

I think that might be wrong. Without CA, the AT car has a Park position interlock with the key. Can't take the key fob out unless the car is in Park. AFAIK there's no equivalent to this in a MT car, but leave that to one side for a minute. With CA and AT, can you just shut the engine off in D or R or N and walk away and lock the car? I don't know, but I don't think so. The poster above who is so adamant about shutting the engine off in D obviously doesn't have CA and doesn't know what this thread is about.
